Requirements

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Logistics/Supply Chain Management/ Maritime Operations, or a related field (MBA preferred)

Additional Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of proven direct international experience in terminal operations preferably with an international terminal operator in the same a similar position.
  • Expertise in end-to-end container shipping industry.
  • Expertise in cost and productivity optimization through process optimization, as well as design and implementation of new operation procedures.

Responsibilities & Context

Job Type: Hybrid (Office & Field Based)

Position Summary: Responsible for ensuring that the strategic and business objective is met by the department. Implement the short-term projects and activities and align it to strategic goals of the company. Responsible for the CAPEX and OPEX budget of the Department ensuring cost are within the budget. Leads the department to undertake projects that will help in efficiency and optimization of all department resources.

Your detailed responsibilities in this position will be:

  • Develop and implement long-term and short-term strategic plans for the terminal. Oversee all aspects of terminal operations, including yard operations, gate management, cargo handling, equipment maintenance, and terminal security. Make critical decisions related to operational effectiveness and resource allocation.
  • Lead the selection, negotiation, and finalization of agreements with suppliers and customers. Oversee the execution and maintenance of agreed-uponservice levels. Monitor and ensure concession agreements are met and delivered according to established timelines.
  • Liaise closely with shipping companies, customs agents, trucking companies, customs authorities, port authorities, and other stakeholders to fulfil their requirements and maintain positive relationships.
  • Set and achieve the budget for the Operations Division, including both capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operational expenditure (OPEX). Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives in terminal processes, systems, procedures, and policies. Drive advancements in technology and systems to enhance cost-efficiency, productivity, and customer service. Ensure service levels meet or exceed international standards.
  • Effectively manage and enhance the efficiency of all support services (HR, IT, Engineering, Finance & Administration) through functional improvements and strong interdepartmental communication.
  • Maintain clear reporting structures and information flow management within the Operations Division. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the Operations Division, ensuring a shared vision and commitment. Implement effective succession planning, people management, development, and recruitment & retention strategies.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure safe and efficient cargo handling practices.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) policies and procedures by all operational staff. Enforce safe working practices and actively promote a culture of safety to minimize lost-time injuries.
