- Effective people and program management skills in acute emergency contexts: the ability to train, lead and manage staff productively under stressful circumstances;·
- Flexible work attitude: Be flexible and yet focused & reliable in an environment of changing demands; Good computer skills:·
- facility with MS Word, Excel, and email/internet software.
- Multi-lingual skills advantageous – with priority placed on English, Bengali and Local Chittagonian Languages.
Responsibilities & Context
Mission context
GK was created in 1972 with two visions. Firstly, “the fate of the poor decides the fate of the country”. Secondly, the “development of the country depends on the development of women”. Since 2017, Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) and UNHCR have entered in a partnership to respond to the Rohingya crisis in Cox Bazar and Bhasanchar.
The Health & Nutrition Coordinator will be responsible for UNHCR-supported health projects in Cox’s Bazar, especially technical support to ensure quality implementation of project activities in the camps as listed in the project partnership agreement (PPA) with UNHCR. In addition will contribute to the governance of financial, HR, and administrative affairs related to project activities jointly with GK management. S/he is to pay monitoring visits (s) to the health facilities in the camps as part of the senior management team. S/he is expected to provide leadership and direction to GK management for strengthening an effective, high-quality, and timely health response for the refugees.
Overall responsibilities:
- Coordination and technical guidance for project planning, implementation, and monitoring in line with PPA for high-quality and timely health response in the camps
- In conjugation with the Project coordinator – S/he will ensure adequate resources for the smooth running of healthcare deliveries in the camps
- Actively associated with the Project coordinator in managing the program implementation including staff recruitment and training, work plan development, procurement and inventory planning, and budget management
- Assess the staff training needs and capacity-building opportunities.
- Prepare high-quality and timely donor and management reports on grants and sector activities.
- Represent and coordinate with UNHCR, RRRC office, MOH, and other stakeholders in cox’s Bazar level for project-related activities and to promote GK best practices among a wider audience
- Ensure regular supply of medicines and medical consumables to the health facilities in the camps
- Support and supervise the assistant health coordinator for project activities
- Ensure compliance with GK policy and procedures in various project related activities by the staff
- Attend coordination meeting organized by MoH, UNHCR, and health sector in Coxsbazar
- Attend monthly GK staff meetings in all PHCs and HPs in the camps and report back to management for the way forward
- Assess and provide input on emergency preparedness strategies and response plans for the GK program
- Support media and communications activities as requested by the GK management.
- Support GK Management with employee health policy and insurance-related activities

- Carry out any additional assignment in accordance with her/his position entrusted by the management of GK from time to time and mutually agreed upon;
- Management may, at any point in time, modify this job description as it is deemed necessary in Gonoshasthaya Kendra’s interests in consultation with the incumbent and UNHCR.
