  • Having skills and knowledge in developing and maintenance website and database system.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting network issues. Knowledge of Symantec Backup Exec is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of survey software, advanced command of Excel, including macros, are required.
  • The ability to travel to locations where project staff are based remotely may be needed.
  • The ability to support MAC computers may be useful.
  • Proven capacity to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and set priorities.
  • High level of personal and professional integrity, motivation to perform at one’s best.
  • Must be fluent in English.

Overview

Research Triangle Institute (RTI) has over 30 years’ experience assisting governments, communities, and the private sector. As a not-for-profit, independent research institute based in North Carolina, USA, RTI has roughly 6,000 employees with global experience implementing international development projects. RTI’s Global Health Division (GHD) within the International Development Group, works in Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases; Global Health Security and Public Preparedness; Heath Systems Strengthening – including Health Governance, Health Finance, Human Resources for Health, Capacity Building, and Health Policy and Advocacy; and Integrated Care – including Reproductive, Maternal, and Child Health and Family Planning. We address a range of public health problems to reduce disparities, lower disease burdens, and build locally owned sustainable health programs in lower- and middle-income countries.

Responsibilities

RTI is seeking an IT Manager in Bangladesh. Overall, the IT Manager will be responsible for management of IT processes and systems to support information technology needs of project and staff. They ensure that all project computers, local area networks, printers, faxes, copiers, phones, and systems are virus-free and in proper working order. This position will report directly to the Senior Operations Manager and work in close coordination with the operations team, program team, and others as needed.

Position is contingent upon award and funding.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manages the use and maintenance of technology required for day-to-day operational support of project staff and implementation, including first level of support Windows PCs and Windows servers and maintain network infrastructure ISP, router, (wireless and hard-wired internet) Ethernet switch and PBX phones, maintain spare parts and hardware repairs and restoration.
  • Sets up, maintains, and supports the IT infrastructure and equipment for the project office, and support individuals who are based remotely.
  • Ensures Windows and other software (e.g., QuickBooks for finance staff) is maintained and properly usable.
  • Ensures information is securely backed up and maintained in accordance with RTI policies and procedures.
  • Maintains spare parts and hardware repairs and restoration.
  • Tracks compliance of project staff when they use RTI IT resources; ensures strict adherence to respective RTI policies and procedures, US government regulations.
  • Contributes to operational process improvements by offering technological solutions that make procurement, logistical, financial, and HR communication and records more effective and efficient.
  • Supports operational surveys of staff and local grantees by applying survey software and analyzing survey results.
  • Supervises and guides IT Assistant.
