Responsibilities & Context

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a federal enterprise with worldwide operations. GIZ supports the German Government in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. GIZ has been working as a development partner of Bangladesh since 1972 under bilateral agreement. Currently, we are working in the areas of renewable energy, adaptation to climate change, private sector development and technical education, biodiversity, as well as good governance and displacement.

For the team of our “Access to Justice for Women, A2Justice”, we seek applications for the position of “Junior Rule of Law and Good Governance Advisor” focusing the area of Case Management.

Job Location: Dhaka

Contract Duration: until 31 March 2026

A. Responsibilities

  • Assisting supervisor during the planning, steering and progress of the project
  • Maintaining effective coordination, implementation, follow up of relevant programme activities in accordance with project / programme goals at district level
  • Building network / partnership with the district level justice actors to ensure necessary legal assistance for poor and vulnerable specially women and children
  • Ensuring coordination among the Partner NGOs (PNGO), GIZ and other relevant stakeholders in the field
  • Ensuring the project activities are being implemented in accordance with GIZ rules and regulation
  • Assisting supervisor to identify day to day problems and suggest appropriate solutions
  • Ensuring quality of the programme implementation in field level

In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:

B. Tasks (Specific for Job Role)

1. Management, Coordination and Networking

  • Organizing events, dialogues, workshops, trainings, meetings at district level
  • Supporting case management forums in collecting data, documents and information for better case management
  • Support to analyse relevant laws, regulations and policies, when and where necessary
  • Ensure necessary coordination between project intervention both in formal and informal justice sector
  • Support the partnership and policy advocacy process of the project
  • Undertake desk study / research on relevant legal issues
  • Supporting project related day-to-day activities in the field

2. Reporting, Documentation and Knowledge Management

  • Ensure necessary documentation of the reports, research papers, data analysis, results etc.
  • Supporting project team to prepare minutes for local case management forums and other events
  • Supporting the legal research and study activities/desk research related to justice system in Bangladesh as required
  • Contributing to develop concept note, outlining consultation workshop/stakeholder dialogue on justice reform
  • Maintaining a policy log to capture the recent changes/reforms in the justice sector irrespective of the project intervention or not.

3. Other Duties/Additional Tasks

  • Contribute to run project activities and any other tasks as required
  • Supporting to other outputs/component under the Programme
  • Undertaking such other duties as may be reasonably expected
