  • Experience with different cuisines such as Mexican, Mediterranean, Arabian and European.
  • Hotel or restaurant experience is preferred.
  • Manages other employees in the kitchen.
  • Preferably, experience in bakery items like pastries, croissant, bread, buns, etc.
  • Computer skills, internet browsing & word.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts.
  • Physical fitness to be on your feet for the duration of your shift.
  • Monitor product freshness and rotate out old products based on a schedule created by the restaurant.
  • To be non-discriminatory, honest, reliable and gender sensitive.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; college degree and food safety training will be added as plus.
  • Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English and Bengali

Responsibilities & Context

An International orientated club is seeking to hire a new Junior sous chef/Chef de Partie who will be responsible for preparing and cooking food to the highest quality standards, ensuring that all dishes are cooked to order and served on time, managing their section of the kitchen and ensuring that all equipment is in good working order, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment. Also, a junior sous chef/Chef de Partie may also be responsible for ordering and managing inventory, training junior chefs, and assisting with menu planning and development.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Takes care of daily food preparation and duties assigned by the superiors to meet the standard and quality as per order.
  • Follows the instructions and recommendations from the immediate superiors to complete the daily tasks.
  • Coordinates daily tasks with the Executive Chef.
  • Able to estimate the daily production needs and check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
  • Clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, and kitchen stuff.
  • Knowledge of all standard procedures and policies about food preparation, receiving, storage, and sanitation.
  • Cook the exact number of items ordered by each guest, working on several different orders simultaneously.
  • Maintain Hygienic, sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
  • Ensure effective communication between staff by maintaining a secure and friendly working environment.
  • Measure ingredients required for specific food items being prepared.
  • Read food order slips or receive verbal instructions as to food required by guest, and prepare and cook food according to instructions.
  • Take delivery of supplies in absence of Chef or Sous Chef.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Loves experimenting with new recipes.
  • Schedule activities and equipment use with supervisor, using information about daily menus to help coordinate cooking times.
  • Follow & implement the kitchen safety regulations.
