Employment Status: Contractual (Duration up to 31-12-2025)
Reporting To: Project Officer, SFP, BC.
The Kitchen In-Charge is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the central kitchen, ensuring the timely preparation and delivery of high-quality, nutritious meals for the school feeding programme in Bhasanchar. The role includes overseeing kitchen staff, ensuring food safety standards, maintaining inventory, and ensuring operational efficiency to meet programme objectives.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee the preparation, cooking, and packaging of meals to ensure quality, hygiene, and adherence to nutritional guidelines.
• Ensure the kitchen operates efficiently, meeting daily meal targets for schools in Bhasanchar.
• Monitor and maintain equipment, ensuring all kitchen tools and machinery are in good working condition.
• Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for kitchen operations to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
• Supervise and manage a team of kitchen staff, including cooks, helpers, and cleaners.
• Conduct regular training sessions on food safety, hygiene, and operational best practices.
• Ensure the kitchen complies with all food safety and hygiene standards.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential food safety risks.
• Ensure proper storage of raw materials and cooked meals to prevent contamination.
• Oversee the disposal of food waste in an environmentally friendly and safe manner.
• Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, cooking supplies, and equipment.
• Coordinate with the programme team and procurement team to ensure timely delivery of ingredients and supplies.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory, usage, and wastage.
• Conduct regular stock checks and ensure proper storage to minimize spoilage.
• Ensure paste management in the central kitchen regularly.
• Ensure meals meet the nutritional requirements and quality standards set by the programme.
• Address feedback from schools and students to improve meal quality and satisfaction.
Coordination and Reporting:
• Work in close collaboration with the Relief Coordinator, Project Officer, and the school feeding program team to ensure that PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse), child protection, and gender considerations are integrated into all activities.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, finance, and programme teams, to ensure seamless operations.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports, including meal production and delivery data.
• Assist in planning and implementing contingency measures during emergencies.
