Responsibilities & Context
Main Job Responsibilities of a Kitchen Steward
Cleaning & Sanitation
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Clean kitchen floors, walls, workstations, and storage areas.
- Dispose of garbage and food waste properly.
- Ensure all cleaning is done according to hygiene standards.
Dishwashing Operations
- Operate dishwashing machines safely and efficiently.
- Sort, stack, and store clean utensils and kitchenware.
- Check equipment for cleanliness before use.
Kitchen Support
- Assist chefs and kitchen staff with basic non-cooking tasks.
- Transport food supplies, ingredients, and equipment within the kitchen.
- Refill cleaning supplies and maintain stock of kitchen necessities.
Storage & Organization
- Arrange and organize kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Keep storage rooms, refrigerators, and freezers clean and organized.
- Follow proper food safety and storage procedures.
Health & Safety
- Follow HACCP and food safety regulations.
- Wear proper PPE (gloves, apron, safety shoes, etc.).
- Report damaged equipment or safety hazards immediately.
- Help maintain a safe and accident-free working environment.
