Requirements
Education
Education:
- Diploma in Medical Technology (Laboratory) Under the State Medical Faculty of Bangladesh and recognized by BMDC
Experience:
- A minimum of 03 years of experience in a clinical lab setting is required; prior humanitarian/camp experience is preferred.
Additional Requirements
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in point-of-care testing.
- Familiarity with disease surveillance and outbreak testing protocols.
- Understanding of IPC and biomedical waste management.
- IT Skills: Basic knowledge of computer applications (MS-Office) is desirable.
- Language: Basic English and Bangla; knowledge of Rohingya or Chittagonian dialect is a plus.

- Good interpersonal and communication skills with clinical teams.

Responsibilities & Context
Purpose of the Position:
The Laboratory Technologist is tasked with conducting diagnostic tests and managing laboratory-related responsibilities to support uninterrupted 24/7 operations at the Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC) in Camp-21, Teknaf. The role involves ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality laboratory services, supporting accurate diagnostics based on identified needs, maintaining testing precision, contributing to disease surveillance, and participating in outbreak response efforts within the designated service area.
Key Responsibilities:
Sample Collection & Testing:
- Collect and properly label biological specimens (blood, urine, stool, sputum, swabs) following standard safety and IPC protocols.
Quality Control & Assurance:
- Ensure accurate handling, processing, and interpretation of test results.
- Adhere to proper sample storage and timely disposal of biohazard waste.
- Participate in internal and external quality control programs.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of test results in lab registers and digital formats (where applicable).
- Share results with clinicians promptly and maintain confidentiality.
- Submit daily, weekly, and monthly laboratory reports to the supervisor.
Equipment & Supply Management:
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Monitor stock levels of reagents, test kits, and consumables, and notify for replenishment.
- Ensure the lab is clean, well-organized, and fully functional at all times.
Infection Prevention and Control (IPC):
- Strictly follow PPE use, hand hygiene, disinfection, and waste segregation protocols.
- Ensure biohazard containers are used and properly disposed of per guidelines.
