Education and other qualifications:

  • Essential Higher Secondary Education (HSC) certificate
  • Desirable formal degree in social work/counselling, or nursing (Nurses can apply)
  • Desirable trainings on health-related topics and modules (for example Health Education, Nutrition, Counselling, Group Counselling, Health Promotion

Experience:

  • At least 1 (one) year experience in a similar position essential
  • Desirable previous experience in MSF or with other INGO/ NGOs with similar set-up

Language:

  • Essential Bangla and Chittagonian/Rohingya Language
  • Desirable competency in English

Competences:

Responsibilities & Context

Main Purpose:

Perform basic counseling and/or educational activities to Hep C patients, families, communities, following MSF protocols and procedures, to improve the health condition of the patient.

Accountabilities:

  • Actively promote the availability of MSF services
  • Carry out, individually or in group, basic counseling and/or educational sessions, to Hep C patients, their families, hospital staff and/or the community
  • Refer patients when necessary to other specialists or external actors in order to provide the best available support
  • Collect and report specific information related to the target group (patient feedback, observations for improvement, etc)
  • Keep files and statistics updated about the counseling and/or educational activities
  • Give testimonies to patients and in the community on own experiences as a patient

Context-Specific Accountabilities:

Patient Education and counselling:

  • For all new and old Hep C patients: provide basic education about the disease, mode of transmission, how to prevent and treatment plan.
  • Check with clinician if need for tailored education information
  • Communicate with patients/caretakers the decisions taken by clinicians/nurses regarding the health status and next steps of management

Patient-centered care (PCC): Implement PCC improvement ideas as guided by PCA (Patient-Centered Approach) focal and supervisor

Facilitiate peer counselling and health education sessions

Assist MSF clinical and non-clinical professionals whenever necessary in order to enhance the scope of Patient Support Education Counselling (PSEC) activities

Support medical team in communication with patient, if required (Translation Bangla to Chittagonian/Rohingya)

Compensation & Other Benefits

  • This is a temporary position for HEP-C project.
  • Initial contract would be for eighteen (18) months.
  • Salary per month according to level four (4) of the internal MSF salary grid (BDT  47,500/- gross). Salary is not negotiable.
  • 2 annual leave days per month worked.
  • Medical insurance for employee and direct dependents based on Health Care Policy
