Professional Experience:

Responsibilities & Context
Community Development Centre (CODEC) is going to implement the Contingency Partnership to Respond to Emergencies in Chattogram Division, funded by UNICEF Bangladesh; which will assist affected populations in Cumilla, Feni and Noakhali districts; Covering health, nutrition, WASH, child protection, education, and social behavior change.
The project targets over 600,000 individuals, focusing on pregnant women, children, and vulnerable groups. Key activities include medical camps, nutritional support, safe water and sanitation facilities, child protection, and educational continuity, all integrated with capacity development.
Duration – 06 months.
Job Purpose:
The Manager – Health (Doctor MBBS) will lead the restoration of Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (MNCAH) services in hard-to-reach areas affected by emergencies. The role focuses on coordinating health interventions, managing medical logistics, and collaborating with local health authorities to ensure quality healthcare delivery to pregnant and lactating women (PLW), children, and other vulnerable groups.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Coordination:
- Provide leadership in restoring MNCAH services across affected areas, focusing on quality care for mothers, infants, and children.
- Coordinate the deployment of midwives and volunteers to enhance service delivery in hard-to-reach areas.
- Lead regular coordination meetings and workshops with government health personnel and other health-based organizations to strengthen the delivery of health services.
Referral Management:
- Supervise the referral process for high-risk pregnant women and newborns with complications, ensuring their safe transfer from remote areas to higher-level health facilities.
- Monitor and track pregnant women and infants to ensure that they receive adequate antenatal, delivery, postnatal, and immunization services.
Healthcare Planning & Supervision:
- Collaborate with upazila health managers to prepare microplans for affected areas, ensuring the continuity of essential healthcare services.
- Oversee the preparation and management of healthcare supply chains, including the provision of essential medical supplies, logistics, and medicines to primary health care facilities.
Health Counseling & Education:
- Organize and facilitate regular health counseling sessions for children, women, and caregivers, including prenatal, delivery, and postnatal care for PLW.
- Support crush immunization programs in hard-to-reach areas to ensure all children receive their vaccinations.
Capacity Development & Collaboration:
- Participate in capacity development efforts by supporting healthcare personnel in implementing emergency health interventions.
- Collaborate closely with local health authorities and other stakeholders to maintain alignment with national health protocols and emergency guidelines.
PSEA Policy:
S/he should abide by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC)’s six core principles on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy. Ensure the safety of team members (in respect to Prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse – PSEA) from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the program’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
Contingent Task Assignments:
The Project Head may assign additional tasks based on the demands of the emergency situation and program requirements.
