  • Age at most 45 years
  • Experience: 8+ years in cement plant for Bsc or 15+ years for Diploma engineer.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with FLSmidth VRM commissioning and operation experience.

Responsibilities & Context

Responsible for managing the complete operation and production performance of the Vertical Roller Mill section using FLSmidth VRM systems. Ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality cement production, while minimizing costs and maintaining environmental and safety standards.

  • Lead and supervise daily operations of the Vertical Roller Mill (raw or cement grinding).
  • Monitor and control key process parameters like feed rate, table speed, vibration, differential pressure, and power consumption.
  • Optimize throughput, reduce stoppages, and stabilize plant operation with the control room and DCS systems.
  • Implement and review strategies for VRM performance improvement and power efficiency.
  • Work closely with process engineers to analyze production trends and implement process modifications.
  • Schedule and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities with mechanical and electrical teams.
  • Monitor wear and tear of grinding rollers, table liners, and classifier components.
  • Maintain VRM maintenance records, downtime analysis, and spare part inventory in coordination with the maintenance department.
  • Collaborate with the QC department to maintain required product parameters (fineness, Blaine, residue).
  • Adjust process settings based on feedback from quality labs and operational performance.
  • Lead a team of shift engineers, control room operators, and technicians.
  • Plan manpower deployment for continuous 24/7 operation.
  • Train and mentor team members in VRM operation, troubleshooting, and safety.
  • Enforce strict safety guidelines and environmental regulations.
  • Prepare and submit daily production reports, KPI metrics, and downtime records.
  • Document changes in process parameters, root cause analyses, and production improvements.
  • Familiar with Industry 4.0 concepts, SCADA/DCS trends, and digital maintenance reporting systems
  • Coordinate with procurement and warehouse departments for timely availability of critical spare parts and consumables.
  • Lead troubleshooting during breakdowns and emergency scenarios to ensure minimum downtime and damage control.
