Responsibilities & Context

This role entails providing comprehensive financial guidance and strategic direction to the organization. Responsibilities include developing and implementing financial policies, overseeing the preparation and review of financial reports, and ensuring adherence to financial regulations and accounting principles. Key duties involve budget planning and management in collaboration with program managers, monitoring organizational budgets, and liaising with auditors to ensure accurate audit processes. The role requires strong leadership in managing the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. Additionally, it involves maintaining donor relations through accurate financial reporting and addressing donor queries, while continuously seeking opportunities for process improvement in financial operations.

1. Strategic Financial Leadership:

• Provide strategic guidance to the organization on financial matters.

• Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.

2. Financial Oversight:

• Oversee the preparation and review of comprehensive financial reports.

• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting principles, and donor requirements.

3. Budget Planning and Management:

• Collaborate with program managers to develop project budgets.

• Monitor and control organizational budgets, ensuring efficient resource utilization.

4. Audit and Compliance:

• Liaise with internal and external auditors, ensuring timely and accurate audit processes.

• Implement corrective measures based on audit findings and recommendations.

5. Team Management:

• Supervise and mentor the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

• Provide leadership in the recruitment and development of finance staff.

6. Donor Relations:

• Collaborate with program teams to ensure accurate and timely donor financial reporting.

• Engage with donors on financial matters, addressing queries and building strong relationships.

7. Legal and Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including NGOAB regulations.

• Submit required reports to regulatory bodies within stipulated timelines.

8. Continuous Improvement:

• Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in financial operations.

• Implement best practices to enhance financial management processes.
