Responsibilities & Context

Position: MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning) Coordinator

Location: Bangladesh, India, Nepal, or Pakistan

Direct Reporting to: Project Manager (Based in Sri Lanka)

Functional Reporting to: MEAL Advisor

The Network: Duryog Nivaran Network, established in 1995, is a South Asian network focused on disaster mitigation through research, training, advocacy, and policy dialogues. The network’s mission is to strengthen national and regional organizations in South Asia, promoting effective disaster risk reduction (DRR) activities and shaping global discussions on DRR.

The Project: Strengthening Inclusive Disaster Risk Governance for Climate Resilience in Asia (SIDRRA) project is funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and led by the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in collaboration with DN and the Asian Disaster Reduction and Response Network (ADRRN), aims to increase community resilience to climate change and disasters across South Asia. The project has three main objectives: to strengthen DN’s advocacy capacity, address power imbalances affecting vulnerable populations, and enhance local-level actions to mitigate climate change impacts.

Job Purpose: To design and implement a comprehensive MEAL system for the project in alignment with DN and IRC (lead implementation agency) standards for Performance, Accountability, and Learning.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a monitoring framework and performance indicators in consultation with the MEAL Advisor.
  • Lead the project’s MEAL Work Plan, including key assessments.
  • Support the Project Manager in project design and monitoring to align with DN objectives.
  • Design monitoring tools, establish baseline measures, and oversee performance activities. Implement tools, collect and analyze data, and advise on data collection methods.
  • Manage the M&E database, conduct evaluations, and identify lessons learned.
  • Prepare narrative and findings reports, create presentations, and communicate findings.
