Responsibilities & Context

In addition to the responsibilities of a Merchandiser, a Senior Merchandiser typically handles more advanced tasks and supervisory roles, such as:

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a team of junior merchandisers.
  • Allocate tasks and monitor team performance to ensure efficiency.
  • Conduct training sessions to enhance team skills and knowledge.

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement merchandising strategies to achieve business goals.
  • Plan seasonal and promotional product lines in collaboration with the design and sales teams.
  • Forecast demand and manage inventory levels to minimize costs and meet buyer needs.

Advanced Negotiation:

  • Conduct high-level negotiations with key suppliers and buyers.
  • Establish long-term partnerships and agreements to benefit the company.

Budget Management:

  • Prepare and manage budgets for merchandising activities.
  • Monitor expenses and ensure cost-effectiveness in procurement and production.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify areas for improvement in the merchandising process.
  • Implement new systems and technologies to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Analyze performance metrics and report findings to senior management.

Risk Management:

  • Assess and mitigate risks related to production delays, quality issues, and supply chain disruptions.
  • Develop contingency plans to address potential problems.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and address any issues or complaints.
  • Seek opportunities to expand business with existing clients.
  • Any other task assigned by management.
