Additional Requirements

At least 5 years merchandising/product development experience, preferably in a reputed buying office in Knits/Woven category.
Must have extensive experience of product development, sourcing of materials, costing of small/large volume orders, and various styles orders independently.
Must be knowledgeable of garments construction and costing, specifically Knit/Woven fabric properties, fabric printing, and surface applications (e.g., heat transfer, embroideries, screen-printing).

Technical Job Requirements

Profound knowledge of Knit/Woven garment engineering and production processes is required.
Have sound knowledge of fabrics and an excellent network of fabric, print, embroidery & trims suppliers.
Should have excellent understanding of technical / production process
Should have a passion for product development, an eye for styles/details and fits.
Should be able to handle MIS entries
Must be capable to handle buyers independently in tremendous pressure with aggressive marketing attitude
Must have skills in examining and establishing proper merchandising operations and procedures
Good understanding of core business aspects
Should have ideas about effective communication for raw materials booking and delivery

We are currently hiring for the position of Merchandiser (Product Development) at our HQ, in the heart of Dhaka. Join our family and build an inspired career you’re proud of.

Job Context

The Merchandiser (Product Development) holds the accountability for working closely with our customers, partner factories and suppliers to develop our product range for both Knit & Woven categories. The incumbent will be responsible for driving product development focusing on fit, component development, quality, cost, performance / durability, and sourcing.

Job Responsibilities

Independently manage research and product development, understand latest fashion trends, and develop customer specific collections
Ensure smooth communications with customers and suppliers on day-to-day merchandising activities and approvals
Understand customer requirements and closely work with design team to manage the correct samples within timelines and quality
Set priorities, develop a work schedule, and monitor progress towards goals, and track details, data, information, and activities
Accomplish and oversee the merchandising cycle (File / Record keeping / Sampling / T&As / QA file making etc.)
Engage in costing and price negotiation with customers and vendors and prepare costing sheets with all the necessary breakdowns from factories
Ensure all suppliers are using nominated sources for trims
Provide monthly intelligence report to the business on actual and potential rises and falls in current cost factors
Coordinate and monitor quality of the product through quality personnel
Follow-up TNA on regular basis to ensure on-time delivery with right quality and quantity
Select and visit different fabric/textile mills, production, printing, washing factories and build long-term relationships for current and future orders
Regularly evaluate factory performance and source and develop new factories as per requirements
Coordinate all phases of development utilizing the available resources
Recommend any changes to the products or process improvements, which can help make production friendlier for construction without changing the aesthetics of the garment
Analyze customer progress report in terms of growth/shortcomings/product and price points, get customer feedback on inquiries and close the orders with clarity on cost/ margin
Review new tech packs and developments to identify any critical points and provide the right details to the factory
Understand ethical behavior and business practices and ensure own behavior and the behavior of others is consistent with these standards and aligns with the values of the organization
Identify areas for improvement and develop/adapt new ways of working
