Requirements

Education

A minimum bachelor’s degree in statistics/applied statistics/ social science or other relevant discipline.

Additional Requirements

  • Strong knowledge and experience developing M&L plans, tools, and methodologies applied in conflict-sensitive and peacebuilding programmes.
  • Highly competent in quantitative data analysis using statistical software, particularly SPSS and MS Excel.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in using Qualtrics, ODK, KOBO, and other mobile/online data collection.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.
  • Good knowledge of research and database management, with an emphasis on quantitative methods.
  • Good time management skills, with a track record of delivering to deadlines.
  • Strong report writing skills, with the proven ability to communicate complex technical ideas using non-technical language to a wide range of audiences including production staff and development practitioners.
  • Strong IT skills, including Excel and Power point.

Responsibilities & Context

Summary of the Role:

BBC Media Action is recruiting a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer to support monitoring and evaluation activities in the Bangladesh office. The role will be based in the BBC Media Action office in Cox’s Bazar. The M&E Officer will be responsible for assisting the Senior Research Officer with development of the M&E Plan for the project, including reporting, database management, and developing M&E and/ performance monitoring plans. S/he will also be managing, compiling, and analysing large-scale data sets. In addition, s/he will be responsible for assisting with the design, monitoring, and supervision of quantitative and qualitative research as well as acting as a point of contact between the research team and external research agencies. She/he will conduct regular project data analysis and identify methods to use results for program improvement. S/he will lead activity efforts to strengthen monitoring evaluation and performance reporting. As such, candidates for this role are expected to have substantial knowledge and experience in monitoring and evaluation, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and research skills.

Main Duties:

  • Develop the M&E Plan, including reporting, database management, and developing M&E and/or performance monitoring plans in consultation with the SRO
  • Oversee data collection, collation, storage, analysis, and reporting, ensuring that data is of high quality and audit-worthy
  • Work closely with the partners’ staff responsible for project management and monitoring data collection, analysis, produce reports on M& E findings, and contribute to timely updating of the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) database.
  • Provide training and mentoring to partners and staff to ensure the implementation of strong M&E systems.
  • Document good practice, lessons, and challenges and generate evidence as impacts of the project’s work.
  • Analyse of large-scale data sets using statistical software packages, interpreting and communicating the results through the production of reports and other information products.
  • Prepare research designs and RFPs/research briefs, review research instruments such as questionnaires and discussion guides prepared by agencies/internal clients, and supervise research activities.
  • Liaise with agencies/field teams in conducting fieldwork, including briefing the field team and supervising the pretesting/piloting of the research instruments. Monitor and control the quality of fieldwork/data collection..

Reports To: Senior Research Officer

Duration: Till September 2025 (this might be extended based on further need)
