  • Two (2) years of working experience in a refugee context is highly preferred
  • Good command of the Chittagonian/Rohingya language gets preference.
  • Ability to cope with stress working in a camp environment.

  • Cultural awareness/sensitivity and empathy to the target population.

Responsibilities & Context

Job Context

GK was created in 1972 with two visions. Firstly, “the fate of the poor decides the fate of the country”. Secondly, the “development of the country depends on the development of women”. Since 2017, Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) and UNHCR have entered in a partnership to respond to the Rohingya crisis in Cox’s Bazar & Bhasanchar

Job Location: Bhasanchar, Noakhali/ Teknaf, Ukhiya at Cox’s Bazar

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure nursing and health care of the patient in PHC /Hospital setting on a 24/7 Roster basis.
  • Responsibility to initiate emergency treatment, stabilization of patients, and ensuring adequate patient monitoring in all medical departments as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and National Guidelines
  • Responsible for dressing wounds, minor injuries, and skin infections, and administrating drugs as prescribed by physicians/consultants
  • Help to assist in the Referral/transfer of sick patients and the safe handover of patients.
  • Responsible for maintaining excellent infection control standards at the facility level
  • Flexibility in working hours because of the emergency nature of activities ability to face workload and good time management
  • Knowledge and willingness to participate in humanitarian activities
  • The employee shall respect Gonoshasthaya Kendra’s & UNHCR’s Conditions of Engagement Additional Accountability
  • A positive attitude and a propensity for leadership and team-building with the ability to problem-solve under pressure
  • Obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS)
  •  Supervise nursing staff in carrying out clinical duties in a patient care setting.
  • Assess and evaluate the ongoing performance of the nursing staff.
  •  Plan and implement schedules for the nursing staff on a daily basis and maintain and manage clinical competencies in nursing staff.
  • Monitor and review performance improvement activities in nursing functions and supervise specialized training programs for nursing staff

Special Note:

  •  Carry out any additional assignment per her/his position entrusted with the GK Management from time to time and mutually agreed upon
  • Management may, at any point in time, modify this job description as it is deemed necessary in Gonoshasthaya Kendra’s interests in consultation with the incumbent
  •   Due to the emergency response nature of GK’s work, hours of work may vary, and employees should be flexible in approaching hours of work in emergency conditions
  •  The employee must respect the timetable, terms, and conditions of Gonoshasthaya Kendra and should always be available to respond to an emergency
