  • Demonstrated ability in resource mobilization in Nutrition or any other emergencies is preferred.
  • Demonstrated skills in effectively managing and building programs and/or operations in high-pressure, fluid environments are preferred.
  • Leadership and team management skills are essential.
  • Prior success managing in an emergency environment and/or start-up environment as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to deliver presentations to professional and donor audiences.
  • Proven writing and editing skills with good computer knowledge, including the ability to effectively write and edit grant proposals and reports.
  • Effective people and program management skills in acute emergency contexts: the ability to train, lead, and manage staff productively under stressful circumstances.
  • Flexible work attitude: Be flexible and yet focused & reliable in an environment of changing demands.
  • Multi-lingual skills are advantageous – with priority placed on English, Bengali, and Local Chittagongian Languages.

Responsibilities & Context

Job Context:

The Nutrition Coordinator will be responsible for UN agency-supported nutrition-related activities under GK operated Integrated Health and Nutrition Project for the Rohingya refugees in Cox’s Bazar & Bhasan Char, especially ensuring quality implementation of project activities and governance of Nutritional interventions, related HR, and administrative affairs. The Nutrition Coordinator will lead the GK Nutrition team in coordination with the funding agency and other stakeholders to represent GK as applicable. S/he is to pay monitoring visits to the nutrition facilities to ensure project implementation is aligned with the project partnership agreements. 

Overall responsibilities:

  • As Nutrition Coordinator, S/he will be responsible for the following main activities

  • Provide technical supervision & support to the implementation team to implement designed projects or interventions in a planned way standard to achieve good quality as per the project objectives.

  • Support the Implementation of comprehensive nutrition interventions designed, developed/reviewed, and disseminated among the implementation teams.

  • Develop Quality assurance and governance mechanisms for nutrition project activities developed as per public health strategy and Nutrition guidelines and tools along with specific feedback mechanisms that continuously improve the nutrition activities.

  • Ensure monitoring and field visits are conducted as per plan to track and observe the implementation progress of nutrition activities, indicators, and practices, identify constraints, and provide immediate recommendations for further improvement to the implementation team.

  • Ensure documentation of the implementation progress by timely generating field visit reports and sharing them with all concerned staff.

  • Develop and coordinate innovation in nutrition communication and training packages/manuals harmonized with nutrition sector packages and

  • Organize and facilitate capacity-building initiatives for field staff and other relevant government officers, and health service providers through ToT, training, on job training based on the developed training packages/manuals.

  • Develop/review training/orientation package (Project orientation, basic nutrition, nutrition-sensitive intervention, nutrition and role of the coordination mechanism, monitoring nutritional status, nutrition integration, etc.)

  • Conduct training/ToT/orientation on the above issues to project staff, key Govt. line department staff CSO members, youth leaders, and pharmacists in consultation with GK management.

  • Develop/review SBCC materials and materials for mass communication on nutrition using relevant guidelines.

  • Contribute to the technical team in documenting program activities and indicators to create evidence and trends analysis that can be quality and disseminated internally and externally.

  • Establish mechanisms to share and manage information (project information, recent research findings, etc.) are established that support reflection and learning.

  • Develop different technical documents and reports including best practices, case studies, assessment reports, evaluation reports, action research, etc.

  • Represent the organization in different forums, coordination meetings, networks/sectors, and technical committees of government and non-government on nutrition to increase its profile internally/externally through communication and networking at the subnational level.

  • Maintain liaisons with subnational level forums and networks on nutrition.

  • Actively participate in different networks/workshops/seminars/meetings as a representative of the consortium to foster change and learning at the subnational and national levels.

  • Actively represent in different government non-government technical committees and consortium roles recognized as an important credible partner.

  • Provide guidance and expertise in the strategic expansion of nutrition programming.

  • Share nutrition technical expertise with the program development team to create strong proposal submissions

  • Lead needs assessments in populations affected by the Rohingya Response to identify new program opportunities.

  • Participate in the proposal development/budget modification process based on the needs·        

  • Oversee nutrition activity budgets, forecast procurements, and human resource needs, and work with finance, HR, and operations to prevent gaps in services. 

Special Note:        

  • Carry out any additional assignment per her/his position entrusted with the GK Management from time to time and mutually agreed upon.

  •   Management may, at any point in time, modify this job description as it is deemed necessary in Gonoshasthaya Kendra’s interests in consultation with the incumbent and funding agencies.·        

  • Due to the emergency response nature of GK’s work, hours of work may vary, and employees should be flexible in approaching hours of work in emergency conditions.·       

  •   The employee must respect the timetable, terms, and conditions of Gonoshasthaya Kendra and should always be available to respond to an emergency.
