Responsibilities & Context
Role Profile:
- Reporting to the Nutrition Manager – Nutrition, The Nutrition Expert will oversee and be responsible for the technical performance of integrated nutrition facilities of INI and IMCN program in Cox’s Bazar. He/she will oversight technical development and implementation of CMAM/CMAMI/OTP/TSFP/BSFP/IYCF-E and outreach components of the program as well as ensuring a strict adherence to donor proposal and standard protocol. The Nutrition Expert will work closely with the Nutrition Manager, and nutrition staff at the field level. S/He will oversee all program staff at the Nutrition sites in camp and host community program for all technical aspects. S/He will also take part in the development of nutrition project proposals concept notes and budget. S/He will also attend nutrition coordination meetings at the field, nutrition sector, govt., donor, and other stakeholder levels in relation to the program need.
Responsibilities:
- Support Nutrition Manager in the development of nutrition specific and nutrition-sensitive proposals, concept notes, and budgets both for camp and host programs.
- Oversee the quality of CMAM/CMAMI/OTP/TSFP/BSFP/IYCF-E/Outreach components at the camp and host community level as per project design.
- Monitor the delivery of the nutrition services as prescribed in the project proposal including mainstreaming cross cutting issues for example gender, PSEA, CP, inclusion and accountability·
- Identify training and capacity building needs for frontline staff and lead in preparation for and/or facilitation of the sessions as needed·
- Mentor and coach the nutrition team on the program protocol and provide supportive supervision through OJT on service components and the cross cutting themes relevant to the project.
- Represent Friendship in relevant camp level coordination forums along with partners.
- Support Nutrition Manager to timely prepare and submit high quality monthly, quarterly reports and other ad-hoc reports, factsheets, and newsletter (quantitative and qualitative) as required.
- Work in collaboration with MEAL and documentation team to ensure that adequate resources and systems are in place to capture and document best practices and lessons learned by the implementing project.
- Support and ensure that facility staff are maintaining standard tools/formats/documents as per agreement and project requirement.
- Regularly assess service quality and provide feedback and recommendations to the Nutrition Manager, as well as field staff.
- Work in collaboration with MEAL and documentation team to ensure that team members are well oriented and practicing M&E plan, learning and development procedure, and their roles in knowledge management.
- Ensure that project learning including achievement and bottlenecks are shared with internal stakeholders upon management and donor review.
- Review monitoring findings of the project regular basis and initiate necessary actions for the improvement of program in consultation with management and donor agencies.
- Work with Nutrition Sector in Cox’s Bazar and act as co lead in CMAM TWG and support other TWGs .
- Maintain good coordination with both external and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of harmonized technical standards and guidelines from donors/NS.
- Facilitate cross learning sharing, synthesis, documentation, and sharing of experience.
- Monitor and support supervision of nutrition team through OJT at field level to ensure that the service quality standards are on tract.
- Work with MEAL team on beneficiary databases, and reporting tools, for smooth service delivery.
- Ensure frequent and quality monitoring with Nutrition Manager.
Skill and Competencies:
Educational / Professional Background:
- Master’s degree in nutrition from any reputed University Degree (Master with bachelor’s degree in nutrition will add extra value).
- Around 3 years’ progressive experience in Community nutrition programmes in a similar/relevant position (For highly technical candidates, experience is considerable).
- Technical knowledge on Community management of acute malnutrition (CMAM) and IYCF programming.
Required Competences & Skills:
- Pro- active with an ability to think analytically, identifying opportunities and mechanisms to broaden programming.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Knowledge in MS word, Excel, Power point.
