Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc)
  • At least a BSc degree in animal husbandry, biology, aquaculture, environmental sciences, fisheries/aquaculture economics or related discipline.
  • Masters degree in one of these mentioned discipline is preferred.

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years

  • Professional training in climate change resilience, NbS, ecosystem-based resilience, sustainable aquaculture, and livestock in coastal system is plus.
  •  3 -5 years of relevant experience in aquaculture, fisheries, livestock natural resource management related programming.
  • At least 2 years action research around sustainable agriculture and natural resources management is an advantage.
  • Strong capacity to conduct participatory training for volunteers, farmers and community groups.
  •  Experience in project impacts assessments and validation.
  • Strong capacity of report writing in Bangla and English.

Responsibilities & Context

Overall responsibility for ensuring aquaculture and livestock technology transfer plan adaptive to the climate vulnerable Sundarban area and delivering the plan.

  • S/he working closely with the aquaculture advisor and other specialists will develop the implementation plan adaptive to the climate vulnerable Sunderban area.
  • S/he will closely work with other specialists for ensuring aquaculture and livestock technologies are affordable to communities and relevant to the local context.
  • S/he will work with the training & technology officer and Gender & Social Inclusion officer for ensuring appropriate messaging and communication.
  • S/he should collaborate with NARS/partners and private sector for ensuring timely inputs for the farmers and other community groups.
  • S/he should work closely with the Private Sector and Energy officer for ensuring the growth of enterprises and uptake of renewable energy in aquaculture and livestock farming.
  • S/he will ensure that implementation and monitoring of project activities are on track.
  • S/he will ensure that farmers and community groups have access to relevant  tools/methodologies and they are benefiting from the project.
  • S/he conducts, designs and oversees research and analysis activities to support the development of technical standards, innovation, technical reports, and relevant communication materials for policy advocacy.
  • S/he collaborates with partners, project specialists, community groups and farmers to for ensuring capacity development, knowledge and learning sharing.
  • Support MEL team to establish a functioning accountability mechanism, and ensure closing the loop of all feedback, especially from ecology based adaptation (EbA) and regenerative agriculture point of view.
  • Support MEL team to conduct baseline, mid-line and end line survey and evaluations, scoping study, process and periodical monitoring assessment tools and checklists from regenerative agriculture point of view.
  • Ensure real-time monitoring data inputs on natural resource management (NRM), EbA and regenerative agriculture so as to provide clear direction to reflect and improve consortium’s performance in these aspects.
  • Provide inputs to consortium’s learning and knowledge products from NRM, EbA and regenerative agriculture perspectives.
  • S/he will participate in different relevant events arranged by relevant external stakeholders for brining in new knowledge and practices.
  • S/he will prepare monthly/quarterly reports for project manager, technical advisor and other relevant specialists.
