We operate a large fleet of vehicles to ensure timely and efficient distribution of our products. Our transport team plays a crucial role in maintaining the reliability and safety of our logistics operations.

Position Overview:

The Officer cum Automobile Technician, Transport is a dual-role position that involves managing transport operations and performing maintenance and repairs on the company’s fleet of vehicles. The ideal candidate will have experience in both transport management and automotive technology, ensuring that our vehicles are well-maintained, compliant with safety regulations, and available to meet the company’s distribution needs.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Transport Operations Management:

Coordinate daily transport operations, including vehicle scheduling, routing, and driver assignments to ensure efficient and timely delivery of products.

Monitor vehicle usage and performance, ensuring optimal fleet utilization and minimizing downtime.

Maintain accurate records of vehicle operations, including fuel usage, mileage, maintenance schedules, and driver logs.

2. Automobile Maintenance and Repair:

  • Perform routine maintenance on the company’s fleet, including oil changes, brake inspections, tire rotations, and other preventative measures.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in vehicles, ensuring all repairs meet safety and quality standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections of vehicles to identify potential issues and address them proactively.

3. Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure that all vehicles are compliant with local and national safety regulations, including emissions standards, insurance, and registration requirements.
  • Implement and maintain safety protocols for vehicle operation and maintenance, including emergency procedures and hazard prevention.
  • Train drivers on safe driving practices and the proper use of vehicle systems and equipment.

4. Inventory and Parts Management:

  • Manage inventory of automotive parts and tools, ensuring that necessary supplies are available for maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to procure parts and materials at competitive prices, maintaining cost- effectiveness in vehicle maintenance.
  • Maintain detailed records of parts usage and inventory levels, ensuring proper stock management and reordering when necessary.

5. Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare and submit regular reports on transport operations, vehicle performance, and maintenance activities to the Transport Manager.
  • Document all repairs, maintenance, and inspections performed on vehicles, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets for transport operations and vehicle maintenance.

6. Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to improve transport efficiency and reduce operational costs, including optimizing routes, reducing fuel consumption, and minimizing vehicle downtime.
  • Stay updated on the latest automotive technologies, tools, and best practices to enhance maintenance efficiency and vehicle reliability.
  • Collaborate with the Transport Manager to implement new systems and processes that improve fleet management.
