Experience: Extensive experience in international trading (import operations and management), including experience in sales, marketing, logistics, and financial management.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in relevant software and systems, such as ERP systems and export documentation software.

Knowledge of: International trade regulations, customs procedures, and logistics practices.

Understanding of: Bangladesh’s export-import landscape and the dynamics of the global market for daily consumed products.

Responsibilities & Context

Job Context:

Unique Group, a leading conglomerate in Bangladesh, is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Operation Manager – Trading (Import) to lead its Consumer Products Trading operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the entire trading lifecycle, from market development to import documentation and banking, ensuring seamless operations and regulatory compliance.

Job Responsibilities:

Identify and pursue new international markets and customers.
Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve import goals.
Negotiate and finalize trade agreements with global suppliers.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key international vendors.
Conduct market research and analysis to identify new sourcing opportunities.
Manage the end-to-end import process from order placement to shipment and delivery.
Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other relevant parties.
Oversee import documentation and ensure timely clearance and delivery.
Ensure full compliance with Bangladesh customs and import regulations.
Lead and motivate the team of professionals, including sales managers, marketing staff, and logistics personnel.
Provide guidance, training, and development opportunities for team members.
Set clear performance goals and track progress toward achieving them.
Prepare and manage operational budgets and forecasts.
Monitor key financial metrics, such as revenue, profitability, and sales costs.
Identify opportunities to improve financial performance.
Liaise with banks for Letter of Credit (LC) opening, negotiation, and settlement.
Identify and implement cost-saving measures and process improvements.
