• Proficiency in MS Office, PLM systems, and merchandising software

JOB CONTEXT: A reputed buying house is seeking an Outerwear & High-Value Jacket Merchandiser to manage product development, sourcing, and production for premium outerwear and technical jackets. This role involves working with specialized factories, ensuring high-performance materials, and maintaining global quality and compliance standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Product Development & Sourcing

• Manage the end-to-end development process for outerwear, down jackets, and high-value technical jackets.
• Source high-performance fabrics, trims, and insulation materials suitable for premium outerwear.
• Collaborate with designers, buyers, and suppliers to develop innovative and trend-driven products.

Supplier & Factory Coordination

• Identify and build strong relationships with specialized factories experienced in outerwear and down jacket production.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and production capacities with suppliers.
• Ensure suppliers meet quality, sustainability, and compliance standards.

Sample Development & Approval

• Oversee the sampling process, ensuring prototypes align with design, cost, and technical specifications.
• Conduct fit and function tests, working closely with technical teams to refine product performance.
• Coordinate lab testing for waterproofing, breathability, insulation efficiency, and durability.

Costing & Pricing Strategy

• Analyze and optimize fabric and production costs while maintaining product quality.
• Prepare detailed cost sheets, considering raw materials, trims, labor, and logistics.
• Support buyers in price negotiations to achieve the best margins without compromising quality.

Production & Order Management

• Monitor the entire production cycle from development to bulk order execution.
• Work with suppliers to manage raw material procurement, ensuring timely production starts.
• Address any production challenges and implement corrective measures to avoid delays.

Quality Control & Compliance

• Ensure all jackets meet global quality standards for durability, insulation, and performance.
• Conduct pre-production and in-line quality inspections to prevent defects.
• Work with third-party labs for certifications like RDS (Responsible Down Standard), REACH, and GRS (Global Recycled Standard) when required

Trend & Market Analysis

• Stay updated on the latest fabric innovations, insulation technologies, and performance wear trends.
• Research competitor products to identify market gaps and new development opportunities.
• Provide insights on consumer preferences for high-end outerwear and technical apparel.

Logistics & Shipment Coordination

• Track shipments and ensure on-time deliveries by coordinating with logistics teams.
• Resolve any supply chain issues, such as material shortages or shipping delays.
• Maintain accurate documentation related to shipments, testing reports, and compliance certifications.

Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain product specs, costing sheets, and supplier agreements in company databases.
• Prepare reports on product performance, supplier evaluations, and cost efficiency for management.
• Document any production challenges and propose solutions for future improvements.
