Requirements
Education
- B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering / Industrial & Production Engineering (IPE) / Electrical Engineering from a reputed university.
- Educational qualifications may be relaxed for candidates with outstanding, proven technical expertise specifically inside a Glass Tempering plant.
Experience
- 5 to 7 years
- The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Glass & Ceramics Manufacturing
Additional Requirements
Experience Requirements:
- 5 to 7 years of active experience on a factory floor, with at least 2–3 years of direct experience as a Production Manager or Assistant Manager in a Glass Processing / Glass Tempering industry.
- Hands-on experience with operating modern automated glass tempering furnaces (e.g., NorthGlass, Landglass, Glaston/Tamglass or similar brands) is highly mandatory.
Additional Requirements:
- Deep technical knowledge of glass properties, heating cycles, and cooling calculations.
- Strong leadership, conflict-resolution, and blue-collar manpower management skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot operational, mechanical, or thermal process glitches swiftly under tight delivery pressures.
- Basic computer literacy (MS Excel, Email) for tracking inventory and sending production reports.
Responsibilities & Context
- Oversee and manage the complete end-to-end glass processing and tempering line (including cutting, automatic edging/polishing, washing, drilling, and the tempering furnace).
- Plan, schedule, and execute daily production targets based on pending corporate and retail orders, ensuring optimum utilization of machinery and manpower.
- Set and monitor the operational parameters of the Glass Tempering Furnace (heating time, temperature curves, and air quenching pressure) according to varying glass thicknesses (e.g., 4mm to 19mm) and types (Clear, Low-E, Tinted, Reflective).
- Implement strict Quality Control (QC) checkpoints to eliminate defects such as optical distortion, bow/warp, roller waves, or surface scratches, ensuring compliance with architectural safety glass standards.
- Track and minimize glass breakage and processing wastage, optimizing cutting layouts through nesting software to maximize yield.
- Lead, train, and manage a team of machine operators, technicians, and shift labors, fostering a highly disciplined and performance-driven factory culture.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to execute Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules for the furnace and heavy machinery to ensure zero unplanned production downtime.
- Enforce absolute workplace safety and hygiene protocols, ensuring all workers strictly use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for heavy glass handling (e.g., cut-resistant gloves, wrist guards, safety shoes).
- Maintain detailed daily production logs, raw glass inventory status, and wastage reports, and present them regularly to the top management.
