Position Summary:

The Product Development Manager is responsible for overseeing the development of new footwear products from concept to commercialization. This role involves managing the product development process, coordinating with cross-functional teams, ensuring products meet quality and cost targets, and staying aligned with market trends and company goals.

Responsibilities:

Product Development Leadership:

  • Lead the product development process for new footwear lines, ensuring timely and efficient execution from concept to final production.
  • Collaborate with Merchandising, manufacturing, and marketing teams to create innovative and market-relevant products.
  • Manage and mentor a team of product developers and coordinators.

Project Management:

  • Develop and manage project timelines, ensuring all milestones are met.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, factories, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery of samples and final products.
  • Conduct regular project meetings to track progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.

Quality and Compliance:

  • Ensure all products meet the company’s quality standards and comply with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Work with the Quality Assurance team to conduct testing and validation of new products.
  • Address and resolve any quality issues that arise during development.

Cost Management:

  • Develop and manage product cost targets in collaboration with the finance and manufacturing teams.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or performance.
  • Ensure all products are developed within budget constraints.

Market Analysis and Trend Monitoring:

  • Stay informed about market trends, consumer preferences, and competitive products.
  • Incorporate market insights into product development strategies to ensure product relevance and competitiveness.
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis as needed.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of the product development process, including specifications, test results, and project updates.
  • Prepare regular reports on project status, product performance, and development activities for senior management.

Supplier and Vendor Relations:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Negotiate terms, pricing, and lead times with suppliers to optimize product development and production processes.
  • Evaluate and select new suppliers as needed.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

  • Foster a culture of innovation within the product development team.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance product quality, reduce time-to-market, and lower costs.
  • Encourage team members to propose and develop new ideas and technologies.
