  • Strong organizational and communication skills in English & Bengali.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and online tools.

Desirable:

  • Experience in labor rights/trade union programs.
  • Familiarity with labor laws, Human rights and international standards.
  • Budget management experience.

Responsibilities & Context

Job Description: The Program Assistant will work in the effective management, planning, and execution of project activities, including organizing resources, collaborate with Team Members to ensure project activities are met efficiently. He/She is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and record-keeping of UNI BLC-supported programs, ensuring accurate documentation as part of the monitoring and evaluation process for UNIBLC initiatives. He/She is responsible for working with, instructing, and collecting all information from UNIBLC affiliates, ensuring that the data and information are accurate and complete. He/She is responsible for drafting and submitting sections of monthly quarterly and yearly reports on activities needed by the UNI, UNI Apro, and UNIBLC to the UNIBLC Executive Secretary.

Job Purpose: The Program Assistant will support UNI/BLC’s trade union initiatives through administrative, logistical, and programmatic assistance. This role ensures effective program implementation, event coordination, data management, and communication to strengthen union capacity and workplace democracy.

Key Responsibilities

Program Support·

    • Assist in planning and implementing trade union programs, events, and campaigns.
    • Provide logistical support for workshops, meetings, and training sessions.

Event Coordination

    • Prepare event materials, schedules, and organize venues and travel for participants.
    • Manage event execution, take minutes, and compile reports.

Data Management & Reporting

    • Maintain records of activities, attendance, and budgets.
    • Draft reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Communication & Liaison

    • Act as a point of contact for program stakeholders.
    • Draft and disseminate official communications and respond to queries.

Financial Assistance, Resource Development & Team Coordination

    • Track budgets and prepare invoices and expense reports.
    • Assist in planning budgets for future activities.
    • Help develop training materials and organize labor policy research.
    • Contribute to grant proposals and funding reports.
    • Support team alignment with organizational goals and mentor youth and women members.

Scope of Work:

Sectors & Coverage:

    • Focus on labor rights and union-building within Bangladesh’s service and industrial sectors.
    • Based in Dhaka, with occasional travel for fieldwork (national or international).
  • Performance Metrics:
    • Timely delivery of program activities and events.Effective documentation and reporting of outcomes.
  • Working Relationships:
    • Collaborate with trade union leaders, program coordinators, and UNI/BLC partners.
