Additional Requirements

  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience working as nutritionist/consultant in public/private/ development sector with demonstrated experience on program coordination, nutrition service delivery and report writing.
  • 3-4 years of progressively responsible professional work experiences relevant to the Terms of References (ToR) especially in the field operation, technical capacity building support and reporting on nutrition specific service delivery status. (Period of work experience may be flexible in case of competent individual)·
  • Experience working with government agencies, local authorities, international organizations, NGOs and communities in the field of Nutrition in urban context
  • Fluency in English and Bangla  both on writing and speaking·
  • Strong knowledge on national nutritional indices and activities including guidelines.
  • Good computer skills (MS word, MS ppt, MS excel, SPSS etc.).
  • Good written and oral communication skills with excellent analytical conceptual and public speaking skills.
  • Experienced working in development and/or humanitarian organization.
  • Proficiency in proper documentation and reporting writing.
  • Proactive and ability to exercise independent judgement.
  • Being patient, accommodative working in stressful and adverse job environment.
  • Strong team building capacity with other project staffs maintaining cordial working relation with all.
  • Facilitate and participate in training, workshop, orientation seminar as and when called for.
  • Previous working experience in urban set up with knowledge on urban life style will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities & Context

  • Bangladesh government is yet to develop urban primary healthcare (PHC) like rural PHC in Bangladesh. Hence, urban PHC is dependent on the Out Patient Department (OPD) of public and private tertiary hospitals. So, a huge portion of the urban dwellers especially the vulnerable community remain deprived of getting healthcare. Eventually, their Out of Pocket (OOP) expenditure on health exceeds the limit for depending mostly on private health sector.
  • At this backdrop, a group of experts has developed a detailed implementation design and operational plan of the Model demonstration on Urban Primary Health Care (PHC) system strengthening for delivering integrated health and nutrition services for the Urban Population. This includes six model Aalo clinics and also its outreach and community-based service delivery approach. In two clinics, there will be comprehensive community-based health and nutrition services approach involving community paramedics and volunteers. The position of CQI is essential for ensuring quality of overall health and nutrition services delivery including integrated community based approach. The position also entails the significance of ensuring nutritional screening and intervention data quality both at input and output level complying the DHIS2 reporting format.
  • Based on the model, Partners in Health and Development – PHD (along with two implementing partners; CMED and NARI MAITREE) has been assigned by UNICEF as the lead organization to implement a sustainable system to manage GP centers focused on performance-based payment (P4P) system by the empaneled GPs and allied health workers. The objective is to deliver all components of ESP service both in PHC clinic and community level with a view to promote urban PHC to government for wider scale-up.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all nutrition intervention service at static Aalo clinic, outreach and community level as per the project profile, national nutrition guidelines and UNICEF’s directives.
  • Orient and train the existing clinic, outreach and community staffs on nutrition service and counselling.
  • Arrange and facilitate nutritional training to field staffs as needed.
  • Organize technical meeting for programmatic support on nutrition.
  • Regular visit to all Aalo clinics, outreach and community to ensure the nutrition service process as per guidelines and provide regular feedback.
  • Maintain close liaison with nutrition section of UNICEF for every matters related to nutrition technical guidance.
  • Maintain effective coordination with project team to update on timely and proper implementation of nutrition service.
  • Collect, summarize and analyze nutrition program data from field as well as system to assist in preparing monthly/quarterly reports.
  • Monitor proper distribution and use of nutrition products supplied from GoB and UNICEF.
  • Support to maintain the quality of nutrition service and data in all clinics and outreach.
  • Coordinate with IPHN, NNS, DGNS and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to UNICEF and project team during review of nutritional guidelines/manuals/SOP as appropriate.
  • Liaise with SBC and other related sections of UNICEF for integration of SBC aspects with nutrition service.
  • Any other duty assignment by the team leader.
