  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in similar roles in international organizations, Embassies, large non-governmental organizations, or private sector
  • Fluent written and spoken English and proficient in Bangla
  • Excellent IT skills, especially high proficiency in MS Office
  • Ability to initiate and work independently, as well as having the capacity to meet deadlines with a high level of quality and accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Flexible, and can organize and plan their work

Responsibilities & Context

We are seeking a candidate for the position of Programme Assistant / Financial Assistant.

The position forms part of the Development Cooperation Section and reports to the Head of Development Cooperation Section. He/she also assists the Administrative Section with financial tasks.

The Embassy has a staff of close to 40 persons. The duties of the Embassy involve working to implement bilateral development cooperation with Bangladesh, promoting political relations and trade between both countries and providing consular, visa and other migration services.

About the Role:

The Programme Assistant/ Financial Assistant has a key role in providing administrative support, quality assurance support and maintaining information systems.

The main task of the Programme Assistant/ Financial Assistant is to handle responsibilities of :

  • Managing the calendar of the Head of Development Cooperation
  • Preparing and managing Development Cooperation Section meetings and other Embassy events
  • Being focal point for Sida’s International Training Programme (ITP); managing the ITP, including full course administration process and alumni data base maintenance
  • Assisting the Controllers with the monthly follow up of development cooperation portfolio reports and updates and perform other quality assurance support
  • Performing other administrative tasks at the Development Cooperation Section such as managing database of key documents, managing time reporting etc
  • Being the Development Cooperation Section focal point for Sida HQ administrative and IT units and member of Sida’s PA Network
  • Providing support to the Chief Accountants Officer with the financial operations at the Embassy by preparing cash transactions, reconciliations, and payments
  • Performing VAT reimbursement processes
  • Performing other duties as and when required
