Requirements

Additional Requirements
- At least 8 year experiences in the development field along with 4 year experiences in project management.
- Knowledge and experience on anticipatory action, early warning system, DRR and emergency response.
- Demonstrate very strong leadership and management skills and ability to work in the team.
- Sound knowledge of project cycle management
- Excellent planning, analytical, organizational and decision-making skills
- Good working relationships with colleagues, partners, external actors and allies
- Excellent communication skills including a high level of written and spoken English
- Conversant in common IT applications (MS word, MS power point, MS excel, internet browsing & e-mail communications)
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines
Responsibilities & Context
Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) <www.ypsa.org> is an organization for sustainable development working in greater Chattogram division since 1985. YPSA is implementing a project on “Anticipatory Action for landslides causing displacement for communities in Chattogram Districts in Bangladesh” in partnership with Save the Children. YPSA is inviting application from the experienced professionals with proven track record for the following position for the Project.
Job Title: Project Coordinator
Job location: Chattogram
Duration: 1st August 2024 to 28th February 2026

Job responsibilities:
- Lead, coordinate and manage the project through maintaining project cycle management for achieving project objective and expected results.
- Develop project plan & budget and support to develop workshop/training/activity guidelines and reports
- Work for minimizing the impact of cascading hazards like landslides and flash floods causing the displacement of communities in hilly contexts in Chattogram District.
- Work for increasing operational capacity of institutions and community to ensure information services for an effective early warning system and developing landslide early action protocol linked to displacement.
- Mainstream the landslide anticipatory action into national DRM system.
- Ensure installation of soil moisture sensor and rain gauge in the piloting areas, and developing the dynamic landslide and flash flood alert system for suspected areas.
- Advocacy to use the risk-sensitive land use planning and incorporate landslide and displacement in hill management policy.
- Share best practices and learnings with practitioners, scientists and policymakers in different platforms
- Conduct Regular coordination with related GO, City Corporation, upazila administration, municipalities, Disaster Management Committees, NGOs, civil society, donors and other stakeholders
- Facilitate different training, meeting, workshop and orientations with different stakeholders
- Provide direction and support to project team to ensure the standards of project activities
- Ensure timely and efficient implementation of all project activities.
- Monitor and report on the progress of project activities to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Ensure that the project activities comply with the policies and regulations of the donor and the organization
- Supervise, monitor and evaluate the project, work and performance of staff and take concrete steps to improve job performance.
- Maintain child and gender-sensitive approach in all stages and maintain safeguarding measures
- Any other task assigned by the Management
