  • Knowledge on climate change adaptation, community resilience building
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other computer skills
  • Experience in working with government departments.

Job Context

Uttaran is a people-centered organization using a rights-based approach to alleviate poverty, diversify livelihood opportunities and empower poor communities of Bangladesh.

  • Reports to: Head of Climate Change Programme
  • Employment Status: Contractual for 3 Month (Renew as per project need)

Job Description:

The individual in this role will be responsible for ensuring that all project components. This includes regular monitoring and follow-up activities, managing donor organization, Community mobilization support to Field Facilitator and Area Managers.

Ensure the proper and timely execution of the project implementation plan (PIP) and the establishment of an accountable service mechanism in alignment with the project’s Theory of Change.

Implementation of the ‘climate resilience measurement for communities’

The project coordinator will also play a crucial role in developing contextual climate-adaptive solutions to address specific innovation challenges in consultation with Practical Action team. These solutions will support communities with sustainable Nature-based Solutions (NbS), effective early warning system (EWS), and insurance as risk transfer mechanism, enhanced food systems and food security, livelihood, local governance among others.

  • Oversee and manage field activities in different location.
  • Supervision of all field-level activities to ensure that all staff members are following the project work plan.
  • The Project Coordinator will also oversee the preparation of high-quality and timely reports to be submitted to relevant stakeholders.
  • Facilitate to formulate project implementation plan together with team and other relevant stakeholders and execute as well.
  • Coordinate and organize exposure events, workshop for capacity building of relevant national and local stakeholders.
  • Responsible for gender responsive behaviour in all actions and decisions. Ensure non-discriminative behaviour based on gender, age, sex, race, ethnic background, culture, disability, nationality, religion, and marital status. Is sensitive and adaptable to gender and social inclusion.
  • Provide necessary support to project team.
  • Ensure improved risk knowledge and practice across key sectors of livelihoods and wellbeing in targeted communities.
  • To improved Upazila plans, policies, and regulations including land use planning and management to support climate resilience that are adequately financed and fully implemented.
  • Facilitation support to different committee.
  • Follow up Advocacy/Coordination/Networking/collaboration with union/sub-district and (national level if required) line department.
  • Maintain effective liaison with representatives of private sectors, extension officials, Union Parishad and community leaders to ensure their supports in project implementation.
  • Ensure timely logistic support to the team members and adherence with the financial and HR policy of the organization.
  • Take initiative to improve the capacity of staff members and facilitate the team members to internalize different conceptual and methodological documents as well as processes.
  • Regular coaching, mentoring, guiding, and accompanying project members for successful implementation of project interventions.
  • Develop and share effective monthly, quarterly, and annual plans of operation and reporting as per donor guidance.
  • Prepare and review the budget according to the work plan, ensure stick adherence to the organizational financial policies and guideline in project expenditures.
  • Engage and participate in other activities as will be deemed necessary for project implementation.

Compensation & Other Benefits

  • Salary: 50,000/ BDT to 60,000/ BDT monthly (salary package with bonus, gratuity and others)
  • Compensation & other benefits: As per Uttaran’s Policy and Project Design.
