  • Willing to drive a motorcycle with a valid driving license.

About ASD:

Action for Social Development (ASD), established in 1988, is a non-government, non-profit and non-political development organization. ASD started its development activities with a Vision that people irrespective of their culture, ethnicity and religion enjoy full democratic and human rights and live in peace and dignity. The Mission of ASD is to facilitate the poor creating solidarity among themselves, building their capacity and bargaining power for realizing their rights and needs in order to improve their quality of life. ASD has a unique experience of working in both urban and rural areas and has experience of working as the head of consortium. ASD in a span of over 35 years, successfully implemented 75 development projects. In the previous journey ASD had a footprint in 17 districts of Bangladesh.

Livelihood, agriculture and food security is one of the major focus areas of ASD. ASD has given importance on empowerment and capacity building to the vulnerable community, agricultural technology and alternative IGAs, diversify food production, ensure better utilization of food.

From the beginning of its journey ASD has been working to eliminate existing barriers in order to increase access, enable decision-making and participation of marginalized populations. ASD has demonstrated committed dedication to improving the quality of life for marginalized populations, such as women and youth, through meticulously planned interventions and strategic partnerships. By leveraging both local and national strategies, ASD ensures that its programs are effective, scalable, and sustainable, thereby fostering resilience and self-sufficiency in the communities it serves.

Project Background:

ASD is going to implement a project named USAID Bangladesh America Maitree Project (Agriculture and Food Security) at Sunamgonj District from November 2024 to November 2026 funded by USAID. This project will be implemented in 03 (Three) Upazila (Sunamgonj Sadar, Derai and Dowarabazar) under the Sunamgonj District in partnership with USAID Bangladesh America Maitree Project-BRAC. To implement the project, ASD invites applications from the competent and qualified persons for the following positions:

Position: Project Manager

Project Title: USAID Bangladesh America Maitree Project

(Agriculture and Food Security)

Reporting: Report to the Project Focal person, Program Director.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Project Management:
  • Oversee the overall implementation of the USAID Bangladesh America Maitree Project – Agriculture & Food Security in Sunamgonj District in consultation with the Focal Person of this project and Program Director in accordance with the project proposals ensuring objectives are met within the required time frame and budget. Where necessary ensure preventative and corrective action is taken. Manage a comprehensive activity plan for the designated project(s), including resource needs analysis, covering the time frame of the project proposal Project Management including staff supervision, Project Planning, Budgeting, Implementation, Coordination, and Reporting in the field of highly vulnerable areas and peoples and capable to manage individual Office& Program resources.
  • Financial Management:
  • Plan and construct the budgets for the designated projects, in collaboration with Focal Person of this project and Program Director in accordance with donor guidelines & Working with the relevant Head of Program ensure that budgets are spent according to donor proposals and regulations and within the appropriate timeframe, Project/Program designing: Assist to preparation Concept note & Project Proposal to the PNGOs/ CBOs and review as per project guidelines, financial management including budget preparation, monitoring procedures.
  • Staff Management:
  • Ensure all personnel related issues for the staff of the designated project(s) are carried out in accordance with the organization guidelines. This includes recruitment, appraisal, objective setting, development and training, disciplinary action, etc. Ensure that staff receive appropriate and adequate training by providing mentoring and coaching and through the promotion of capacity building of local staff.
  • Effective Implement Project:
  • To conduct Foundation training and Staff Capacity Building Training and assist HR on Programme Staff in selecting project participants following the criteria stipulated in the field operation plan.
  • Conduct necessary capacity building training to the selected participants to enhance their technical knowledge and skills.
  • Supervise the project plan and its implementation by the beneficiaries and track all the field data and give update to donor
  • Responsible to supervise and follow up the activities of Programme staff and guided them in terms of quality and quantity for proper field implementation.
  • Development of Detail Implementation Plan (DIP), log-frame and production of different Information, review national and international best practices, innovations and successful interventions in areas relevant to the project
  • Provide project briefs highlighting project activities which will be shared with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage field operations budget ensuring all expenditures are done according to approved budget and take appropriate measures if non-budgeted expenditures are required at field level.
  • Guide and mentor, supervisee staff, identify staff capacity building needs and take initiatives for their capacity development, ensure sound people management practices across field operations of the projects.
  • Work with Head Office staff for project Development (Production & Design) in the financial aspects of product development, such as budgets, expenditures, research and development appropriations, and return-on-investment and profit-loss projections.
  • Develop and implement a market analysis report outlining potential opportunities for the brand in the region.
  • Conduct extensive market research to link the smallholders of the project effectively.
  • Analyze market strategies and identified areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive multi-channel marketing plan for smallholders of the project to drive sales.
  • Develop and manage relationships with service providers, private companies and other stakeholders.
  • Create and manage a budget to ensure effective utilization of resources.
  • Organize and execute events to increase the visibility of the project and organization.
  • Tracked and reported on marketing metrics to measure success.
  • Creating new business opportunities for the smallholders of the project.
  • Market Research. Strategic Planning, Product Launches, Customer Relationship Management & Reporting.
  • Monitor: Monitor the product collection center, Women business center, Farmer producer organization.
  • Network with local organization, service providers and other stakeholders
