Additional Requirements

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar field;

  • Excellent Networking capacity.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work within a team;
  • Experience in working with safe migration will be considered as an added value.
  • Basic computer proficiency: i.e. MS Office, database management, coordination via email, project-specific management information systems, etc;
  • Must be good in writing and speaking in English and Bangla, i.e. monitoring report, field visit report, event report, case study/story, press release, content writing etc;
  • Timely decision-making ability as well as multi-tasking capacity;
  • Strong commitment to organizational values, integrity, respect, commitment and solidarity;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Bangla.

Responsibilities & Context

WARBE Development Foundation: WARBE Development Foundation is a non-profit organization working in the field of migration and development in Bangladesh since 1997. WARBE took the pioneering role in Bangladesh as a migrant workers’ association to deal with the issues of migrants’ rights. WARBE has undertaken many development activities at the grassroots and national and international levels to protect the rights, well-being and dignity of migrant workers and their families. As part of this, WARBE DF with support from the Asia Foundation has started to implement the project in Munshiganji and Cumilla Districts.

PROJECT BACKGROUND:

Under the Bangladesh Collaborative, Accountable, and Peaceful Politics (B-CAPP) Programme funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), the Asia Foundation (TAF) is embarking on a transformative project known as “Promoting Effective, Responsive, and Inclusive Governance in Bangladesh (PERI).” This initiative, led by The Asia Foundation (TAF) in collaboration with WARBE Development Foundation (WARBE DF), seeks to address critical governance issues in the context of labor migration, particularly focusing on the regulation and accountability of sub-agents or ‘middlemen’. The project envisions to create a transparent and accountable labor migration system in Bangladesh, enhancing the well-being of migrant workers and reducing the risk of exploitation.

Objectives of the Project:

To regulate sub-agents and ensure their accountability within the labor migration laws.

To reduce exploitation, fraud, and migration costs for prospective migrant workers.

Strengthening the Grievance Management Committee (GMC) involves grassroots-level dispute resolution to ensure migrant access to justice and prevent discrimination.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, implement, supervise, manage and coordinate all components of the project to achieve the project objectives and results;
  • Coordinate all project activities and be the main contact point for the project;
  • Ensure programme management and financial management functions collaboratively and in compliance with accepted standards;
  • Manage the development and execution of project deliverables, project planning, monitoring, budgeting, action plans and monitoring processes etc;
  • Frequent field visit to ensure the quality of field programmes through direct monitoring;
  • Coordinate for developing a comprehensive list of existing services and providers that will respond to the specific needs of migrants in each;
  • Maintain and coordinate the management of the Migration Information Support Center (MISC) and its activities in 2 selected districts;
  • Responsible for conducting and facilitating community advocacy and mobilization activities at a regular frequency;
  • Responsible for data management and monitoring supervision and reporting;
  • Maintain liaison with different stakeholders at the national, district and upazila level and other authorities working in the migration field;
  • Organize national level events like seminars, workshops, consultations, meetings and campaigns etc;
  • Regular communication with Parliamentarians’ Caucus on Migration and Development for updating and reporting the Caucus activities;
  • Develop and write different position papers, reports and articles for Parliamentarians’ Caucus;
  • Coordinate different activities of Parliamentarians’ Caucus;
  • Perform other duties assigned by Management of WARBE Development Foundation.
