The Network: Duryog Nivaran Network, established in 1995, is a South Asian network focused on disaster mitigation through research, training, advocacy, and policy dialogues. The network’s mission is to strengthen national and regional organizations in South Asia, promoting effective disaster risk reduction (DRR) activities and shaping global discussions on DRR.
The Project: Strengthening Inclusive Disaster Risk Governance for Climate Resilience in Asia (SIDRRA) project is funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and led by the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in collaboration with DN and the Asian Disaster Reduction and Response Network (ADRRN), aims to increase community resilience to climate change and disasters across South Asia. The project has three main objectives: to strengthen DN’s advocacy capacity, address power imbalances affecting vulnerable populations, and enhance local-level actions to mitigate climate change impacts.
Job Purpose: The Project Officer will support the overall implementation of the SIDRRA project, specifically in the implementation of sub grant projects ensuring effective planning, coordination, communication, and monitoring of activities.
Functions/Duties and Responsibilities:
- Planning, coordinating, and implementing sub-grantee projects for the SIDDRA project in five South Asian countries.
- Facilitate communication among project partners, sub-grantees, stakeholders, and DN network members.
- Organize capacity building initiatives and develop training materials on disaster risk reduction and climate resilience.
- Maintain project documentation and develop communication materials to highlight achievements.
- Support the MEAL plan, collect and analyze data, and prepare reports.
- Assist in preparing project budgets and ensure compliance with financial procedures.
