Responsibilities & Context

Ensure quality, relevant and effective project implementations which bringing about sustainable changes to the lives of the targeted poorest peoples-50%

  • The project officer will be responsible for the effective delivery of animal health and production technologies especially those focused on livestock development, knowledge, and skills to project participants/right holders, and relevant stakeholders.
  • S/he will ensure that the right holders adopt improved technologies for quality livestock production as an option for their livelihood development.
  • S/he will work in close collaboration and coordination with Project project manager, agricultural extension department, and respective stakeholders. In addition, s/he will ensure a quality implementation process related to enhancing the efficiency of livestock (poultry and small farms) health, production and productivity; IGA promotion; and contribute to the scale-up of learnings for the wider benefit of right holders.
  • Developing work plan in coordination with project team and ensuring this plan will meet project activities
  • Technical support on livestock related issues including animal and poultry disease diagnosis, prevention, control and management and market linkage
  • Apply preventive health, hygienic health, calf health and under health management program to beneficiary
  • Delivery of community – based productive veterinary services including fertility program to beneficiary
  • Training on livestock health management, feeding and fodder cultivation techniques
  • Plan, implement and promote livestock income generating activities and ensure training on livestock IGAs
  • Provide support to prepare relevant training curriculum, module, handout along with required visual materials like as livestock flip chart, hand book for the partner staff and beneficiary
  • Ensuring knowledge and capacity building of community people on livestock development
  • Developing awareness material for livestock program and conducting awareness sessions according to the plan.
  • Capacity building and empowerment of the SHG and community bodies through income generation with livestock development.
  • Work with IRB’s EEGP and advocacy team on linkage building with service provider on relating issues.
  • Be in line with organizational strategic objectives and goals
  • Provision of IRB country strategy implementation at the field level.
  • Coordinate and provide substantive technical support to the implementation of the project.
  • Identify areas for support and intervention related to the project and provide support to timely achievement of project goals, outcomes, and outputs.

Ensure effective reporting, documentation and visibility according to the project need -20%

  • Produce documents and analyses innovative strategies/best practices/new approaches, formulate case studies, knowledge management, and dissemination.
  • Support preparing high quality reports (monthly, quarterly, interim, and final narrative report) both narrative and quantitative information and reporting on relevant indicators and outcomes in accordance with the reporting schedule and the required reporting formats.
  • Take lead in documentation and sharing of Impact/success stories and best practices to promote learning.
  • Assess project performance to identify success factors and incorporates best practices into project work.
  • Compile relevant project data, and prepare documents for creating the evidence base for climate adaptive livelihood practices, awareness and capacity development, claimed basic rights and SSN, & DRR.
  • Assist with data collection, processing, and analyzing data from the field and produce information/briefs for interventions, strategies, projects, and programmes.
  • Assure compilation and sharing of results, learning, and uptake from all the activities.
  • Assist project account officer to prepare the financial report of expenditure and updating from time to time.

Effective project monitoring and administration-10%

  • Contribute performance of the project activities and outputs against expected results and adjust implementation processes to ensure the project is progressing towards the intended outcomes.
  • Assist analyzing the impact of the project and promote learning by documentation of best practices. Use this information to support decision-making processes.
  • Ensure tracking project risks in collaboration with line manager to timely adjusts and implement the existing contingency plan.
  • Conduct orientation for key stakeholders on Complaints & Feedback Mechanism (CFM), Child Protection, Safeguarding & Gender Sensitivity issues concerning project activities.
  • Facilitate training, workshops, Meetings, sensitizing activities etc in different sectors for internal & external stakeholders, policy makers on the rights and entitlement & SSN issues.
  • Organize meetings for communities at project sites to reflect on project approaches, tools, impact of interventions, best practices, exit and sustainability strategies as well as create spaces and opportunities for action-learning.

Comprehensive and effective communication, coordination, and advocacy with different stakeholders.-15%

  • Coordination & communication with project stakeholders, GOs, NGOs, private sectors, CBOs, Service providers & IRCO representatives.
  • Coordinate overall implementation of the program at the field level.
  • Mobilize and facilitate the engagements of stakeholders during planning and development meetings, workshops and other.
  • Engagement with key stakeholders for influence, learning and resource development
