Responsibilities & Context
Location: Hafez Nagar, Bakalia, Chattogram.
Reporting to: Project Manager.
Responsibilities:
Women Rights & Gender Equity
- Conduct advocacy meetings with the City Corporation and respective authorities as per project need.
- Engage in advocacy with local authorities led by women and youth leaders
- Facilitate regular meetings with the SVAW Committee/Watch group
- Organize weekly reflection action group meetings on violence against women and children, women rights, and gender equity
Resilience and Climate Justice
- Build the capacity of the women and young people team for the humanitarian response team in the working area of LRP.
- Organize weekly reflection action group meetings on DRR and climate justice.
- Develop a DRR plan for LRP working area.
- Provide need-based humanitarian response.
- Provide support to the community for capacity building on urban resilient livelihood.
Young People
- Conduct advocacy for GRPS with local public service providers
- Organize social audit and public hearing led by young people
- Take initiatives to include youth members in different committees under DYD, MOWCA, Social Welfare Department, Women Affairs, Agriculture Extension Department and other relevant platforms.
- Encourage and motivate youth to participate in development activities such as climate justice, intergenerational cohesion, solid waste management, and income-generating activities
- Ensure the frequent presence of youth in the youth hub to make it vibrant and soulful.
- Project officer need to allocate 50% of his/her time especially for field work to ensure a frequent communication with youth groups.
Young People Leadership Development
- Conduct advocacy with City Corporation and respective authorities for developing young people leaders
- Provide basic training on journalism for young activists, including community journalist groups
- Support young journalists and child journalist groups for developing articles
- Provide leadership training for Child Forum and CJG members
- Build capacity on creative learning for children
- Facilitate meetings between CJG and Child Forum
- Monitoring & support to community facilitator & aligned with sponsorship officer.
Youth Hub Operation:
- Support the LYH team in identifying and prioritizing the needs of young people in respective communities through a systematic needs assessment
- Plan, coordinate and manage LYH activities at the grassroots level
- Facilitate social cohesion activities that bring young people together to promote youth activism
- Develop and implement capacity building initiatives for young people on various thematic areas, such as climate change, social injustice, social cohesion, adaptation and mitigation, gender-responsive public services, SDGs, and accountability
- Work with young groups to develop youth-led interventions to influence the decision-making process by generating evidence to make their voices heard
- Develop partnerships with youth networks to develop ways of working with young groups
- Develop capacities of young women and persons with disabilities to advocate for positive social outcomes
- Develop capacities of young people through digital means based on the learning of COVID-19 or any other pandemic situations
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration with partners, stakeholders, and LYH team members to achieve the desired outcomes
- Prepare progress reports and maintain project documentation.
- The job responsibilities include performing all tasks assigned by management or supervisor that are relevant to the position.
- Prepare & compile all types of reports( daily, weekly, event quarterly & monthly report )
- Coordinate with external actors & other NGOs for smooth field operation & activities implementation.
- Follow up stakeholders & support to project manager for smooth field operation as per management’s decision.
- Check each project documents by maintaining compliance.
