Requirements

Education

  • Master’s Degree in any subject; preferably in Social Sciences/ Development Studies / Disaster Management / Geography and Environmental Sciences / Law from a recognized University

Experience

  • At least 5 years

Responsibilities & Context

Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) <www.ypsa.org> is an organization for sustainable development working in greater Chattogram division since 1985. YPSA is implementing a project on “Anticipatory Action for landslides causing displacement for communities in Chattogram Districts in Bangladesh” in partnership with Save the Children. YPSA is inviting application from the experienced professionals with proven track record for the following position for the Project.

Job Title: Project Officer (Implementation)

Job location: Chattogram

Duration: 1st October 2024 to 28th February 2026

Job responsibilities:

  • Support the Project Manager to develop project plan & project budget and report.
  • Directly engage in implementation, monitoring, following up and coordination of the field level project activities as per the project plan.
  • Supervise and monitor the work of Field Facilitators and provide day to day support in implementation
  • Maintain continuous coordination with local administration, local government, civil society, like minded NGOs, public representatives and other stakeholder in the project area
  • Support to capacity building of volunteers, prepared the landslide and flash flood bulletin and dissemination of forecast and early warning messages to the community level
  • Assist to installation of soil moisture sensor, and rain gauge in the piloting areas.
  • Assist to develop the dynamic landslide and flash flood alert system and impact-based forecasting in the susceptible areas.
  • Develop landslide and flash flood bulletin and dissemination of forecast and early warning messages considering displacement.
  • Assist to develop and test the Protocol for Anticipatory/Early Action in the context of landslides and flash floods
  • Develop local Anticipatory Action Plans, information platform for early action on landslides and internally displaced populations
  • Advocacy to use the risk-sensitive land use planning and incorporate landslide and displacement in hill management policy.
  • Facilitate community-based risk analysis and vulnerability assessment.
  • Facilitate different training, meeting, workshop and orientations with different stakeholders
  • Develop event report and preserve all field records.
  • Maintain gender-sensitive approach in all stages and maintain safeguarding measures
  • Any other task assigned by the Management
