Requirements

Education

  • Diploma
  • Diploma in Ophthalmic Assistant / Mid Level Ophthalmic Paramedic/Diploma in Medical Faculty from any recognized institute;

Experience

  • At least 4 years
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):
    NGO, Development Agency

Additional Requirements

  • Age at most 40 years
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in the Eye health-related field;
  • Good interpersonal skills, relationships with others and communication skills;
  • Operation Theater management, Patient management and counseling;
  • Ability to work under stressful situations and meet deadlines;
  • Willing to travel extensively within the RDRS operational areas and beyond the ability to work independently in a team;
  • Age may be relaxed for highly experienced candidates.

Responsibilities & Context

Summary of Position

  • This position is mainly responsible for ensuring the correction of eye power with Refraction, Keratometry of operation patients, patient screening program, counseling, and school children reflection to the Eye Care and Rehabilitation center for smooth implementation of RDRS Core Comprehensive Program.

Description of Responsibilities

A. Planning

  • Assist with the team on the annual operational plan of the eye care center.

B. Patient screening & counseling:

  • Counseling the entire postoperative patient.
  • Counseling the patient about cataract operation benefits.

C. Eye camp

  • Participation in the field eye patient screening camp (PSP).

D. School student refraction test support:

  • Organize school children’s refraction program.

E. Assist Surgeon in all operations:

  • Perform keratometry in all operations.
  • Maintain/ assure all aseptic measures in refraction.
  • Assist all operations in OT (SICS/Phaco/DCR etc).

F. Record keeping

  • Keep, update & submit all operation patient list reports.

H. Liaison and correspondence:

  • Assist Liaison and correspondence with various Organizations, NGO, central office, SC, and other offices

I. General:

  • Attend training, meetings, and workshops to update knowledge and skills as assigned and disseminate new knowledge/ information/lessons learned.
  • Willing to work in any natural disaster or emergency anywhere in Bangladesh
  • Part I: Working Condition: Office-based with At least 50% on-site program and field visit.
