Responsibilities & Context

Duty Station:

• Dhaka, Bangladesh

• The job will also involve travel outside Dhaka for field research and/or advocacy work, if required.

Purpose of the Role

The Research Associate will play a central role in supporting evidence-based policy research and advocacy. The position involves hands-on involvement in designing, conducting, and analyzing research to inform development policy. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, knowledge of research methodologies, and the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams. This role also requires adaptability to integrate AI tools and data visualizations in research reporting and communication.

Key Responsibilities

 Research and Policy Support

• Conduct literature reviews, assist in developing research tools, and support data collection and analysis.

• Contribute to the design of field-based and remote research (e.g., FGDs, KIIs, household surveys).

• Carry out qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

• Coordinate with, interns, enumerators and researchers for field activities and data quality checks.

• Draft and support the development of research outputs such as research reports, policy briefs, conference papers, op-eds, concept notes, and policy papers.

 Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)

• Collect, verify, and report project data related to key indicators and outputs.

• Organize and maintain documentation (training records, surveys, visual materials).

• Ensure data accuracy and completeness in collaboration with the Principal Investigator and research team.

 Data Analysis and Visualization

• Collaborate with IID’s Creative and Research teams to analyze and visualize data for reports and stakeholder communication.

Experience using AI-powered tools, interactive dashboards, and data storytelling methods to derive and present policy insights will be a strong advantage.

 Project Support & Communication

• Assist in proposal writing, documentation for donors, and coordination with partners.

• Contribute to the planning and execution of IID’s knowledge-sharing events and policy dialogues.

• Manage deadlines and ensure timely delivery of research outputs.

• Represent IID in meetings, forums, and partner events as needed.

Education

• Minimum Bachelor’s in Development Studies, Economics, Statistics, or a related social science field.

• A Master’s degree is a plus.

Experience

• 2–4 years of professional experience in research, evaluation, or policy work.

• Experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative studies.

Skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Bangla.

• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and at least one data analysis tool (e.g., SPSS, R, Power BI, etc.).

• Familiarity with AI tools and digital platforms for productivity, research, or communication.

• Skilled in drafting analytical reports, conducting data analysis, and creating engaging visual outputs.
