Requirements

Experience

Additional Requirements

  • Age At least 24 years

Education

  • Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Shipbuilding/Science/Engineering or equivalent with NIBOSH/IOSH/NVQ3 or equivalent qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 7–8 years of experience in health and safety.

  • 30 % of Desk job
  • 70 % of Physical work – Inspection/ Audit/ Safety Walk/ Training

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training Required

  • Proven experience as a Safety Officer or Executive, with a solid understanding of Bangladesh Labor Laws and relevant international HSE standards.
  • In-depth knowledge of OHSAS 18001 and ISO 45001 management system requirements, including audit preparation, compliance verification, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating ownership, initiative, and consistent follow-up on implementation of safety programs.
  • Skilled in risk assessment, incident investigation, and root cause analysis, with the ability to develop effective preventive and corrective actions.
  • Proficient in preparing and delivering HSE training and awareness sessions across multiple levels of the workforce.
  • Effective communication and coordination skills to engage with management, contractors, and workers in promoting a positive safety culture.
  • Competent in documenting and reporting HSE performance, statistics, and audit findings accurately and on time, having high level of attention to details.
  • Practical knowledge of Behavior-Based Safety (BBS), Risk Assessment, Emergency Preparedness, and Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HSE software tools.

Responsibilities & Context

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, standards, and strategies, across all operational sectors.
  • Advise and assist the reporting manager on all HSE matters to ensure effective implementation of the HSE Management System and compliance with client requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate Safety Campaigns across all project sites to strengthen safety awareness, encourage proactive participation, and build a positive safety culture.
  • Facilitate both internal and external HSE audits as per the divisional audit schedule; ensure the findings are tracked and corrective actions are properly conducted and closed.
  • Lead and manage risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions, document everything meticulously for future reference.
  • Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring root causes are addressed through effective corrective actions.
  • Conduct site inspections and management walk-through monthly; monitor housekeeping standards and promote continuous improvement in overall site safety conditions.
  • Coordinate and deliver HSE training programs in line with divisional and site-specific needs to maintain workforce competence and compliance.
  • Observe and evaluate emergency mock drills, advising line supervisors on improvements for both residential and worksite scenarios.
  • Keep management informed of new or updated regulatory safety requirements and ensure prompt implementation at site level, compliance with national and international HSE legislation and standards.
  • Prepare and implement key HSE tools including Hazard Analysis (HA), Risk Assessment, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Stop Work Authority (SWA), and Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) initiatives.
  • Ensure that all relevant safety signs, symbols, and instructions are clearly displayed at prominent locations.
  • Maintain and report accurate HSE performance statistics and activity summaries to the Corporate HSE Manager.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities reasonably associated with the position.
