Responsibilities & Context

The Java Developer will have a strong background in Java programming, with a passion for developing efficient, scalable, and accessible software solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Design, implement, and maintain Java-based applications that are high-volume and low-latency.

* Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing.

* Analyse user requirements to define business objectives.

* Envisioning system features and functionality.

* Ensure designs comply with specifications.

* Prepare and produce releases of software components.

* Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review.

* Key bug-fixes and solution design and review with operational teams.

* Automation design in various solution components

* Application support and enhancements

* Production issue root cause analysis and solution design for the support fixes and enhancements

* Multi environment deployment and testing co-ordination for live system changes

Core Competencies:

Experience in the Spring Framework.

Experience in developing applications using microservices architecture.

Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

Experience with PostgreSQL database and understand of database versioning tools like Flyway.

Experience with unit tests tools like Junit and Mockito.

Experience with message brokers like RabbitMQ or Kafka.

Experience with Quarkus is a big plus.

Education and experience:

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.

Proven hands-on Software Development experience.

Proven over 5 years of working experience in Java development.

Hands-on experience in designing and developing applications using Java EE platforms.

Object-Oriented Analysis and design using common design patterns.

Profound insight of Java and JEE internals (Classloading, Memory Management, Transaction management etc).

Excellent knowledge of Relational Databases, SQL and ORM technologies (JPA2, Hibernate).

Experience in developing web applications using at least one popular web framework (JSF, Wicket, GWT, Spring MVC).
