Responsibilities & Context

Position Summary: The Sr. Programme Associate (SPA) will work for an organizational strengthening project funded by FCDO. They will work under the supervision of the Senior Program Coordinator to manage partner reporting, organize learning events, and oversee a range of communication initiatives. The SPA will be responsible for organizing and managing and leading the engagement initiatives under the project. This role requires excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to engage and collaborate with multiple stakeholders within and outside of BIGD. The SPA will ensure timely reporting and dissemination of information, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and engagement. This is an exciting position that demands a strong understanding of communication strategies, event management, and a commitment to enhancing institutional visibility and impact.

About BIGD: BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), Brac University, is a Bangladesh-based social science research and academic institute, dedicated to generating and sharing knowledge through education, research, and public and policy engagement in equitable partnerships with national and global actors.

We conduct rigorous, multi-method social science research, grounded in developing country operations, on a range of social and economic issues to promote practical, time-sensitive innovations for tackling governance and development challenges. Our research spans innovations taking place in government, non-profit, and private sectors for improving lives.

We lead the research on the socioeconomic empowerment programs of BRAC—the global leader among NGOs focusing on poor and marginal people—including their ultra-poor graduation, integrated development, skills development, migration, microfinance, gender justice and diversity, community empowerment, climate change, humanitarian, and urban development programs.

Job Responsibilities:

A.Program Management (50%)

  • Assist in planning, implementation, and tracking of engagement activities
  • Coordinate meetings, workshops, and conferences.
  • Manage budgets and assist with financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders within organization as well as beyond for the initiatives.
  • Foster collaborations with other research institutions and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with the university and funding agency policies and regulations.

B.Communications Activities (30%)

  • Take the lead in encouraging the proper documentation of the initiative’s activities, documents, and processes, including following up with team members to continuously update and sync all files and folders
  • Facilitate internal communications to keep staff informed and engaged with ongoing initiatives.
  • Provide writing and editorial support on donor reporting, internal documents, etc. as and when needed
  • Identify potential platforms/networks/events for the promotion of the initiative and take necessary actions for promotion.
  • Identify key deliverables of the projects and grants and work towards meeting them in a timely manner
  • Ensure regular production of podcasts and webinars

C.Engagement with Partners and Stakeholders (20%)

  • Serve as the primary liaison for communication between BIGD and external partners, ensuring consistent and clear messaging.
  • Map partnerships and develop a strategy for engagement.
  • Support learning and development opportunities for BIGD researchers in partnership with other organizations.

Reporting and Base: The position will report to the Senior Program Coordinator, BIGD, and will be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
