Education

Master’s degree in Business, Agriculture, Economics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Civil Engineering or other relevant disciplines

Experience

Additional Requirements

Minimum 5-years of working experience in WASH sector
At least 3 years of experience working in international development organization with a background in market systems
Prior experience in the water sector, and/or willingness to familiarize him or herself with aspects around chemical and microbial water quality, drinking water treatment, and safe water storage
Experience with social and behavior change approaches to intervention design is of advantage
Ability to cohesively work with various team members and the flexibility to adapt to different work conditions
Proficiency in designing and conducting research using qualitative and quantitative tools, and in documenting and critically analyzing results efficiently and comprehensively
Contribute substantially to developing the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Plans for the water interventions
Familiarity and experience with project management concepts such as Logical Frameworks, Impact Logic or Results Chains

Roles and Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Senior Sectoral Expert – WASH will include but are not limited to the descriptions below.

General & Consortium Responsibilities:

Adopting both a market development and social and behavior change lens, analyze and identify strategies to stimulate adoption of safe water consumption practices, sanitation marketing, and hygiene promotion
Identify private sector actors whose interests align with the project’s goals and engage in building private sector partnerships
Lead the design of market-based interventions to increase households’ adoption of improved WASH technologies, in partnership with private sector actors
Collaboratively plan the implementation of intervention activities involving all other technical leads and the Activity regional staff members through the preparation of annual work plans and detailed implementation plan
Facilitate different tools of WASH including sanitation marketing, community WASH approach, menstrual hygiene, and wash in school.
Provide input into improving program approaches and systems and supporting the team to build, test, and deliver the most effective and sustainable development interventions possible through WASH tools and technologies.
Play an active role and coordinate with relevant technical units in planning and provide programmatic guidance for the project staff, partners, and other stakeholders according to project guidelines and donor requirements
Play a supporting role in the delivery of project outcomes and expected results in accordance to project strategy

Job Location: Dhaka with field visits as needed

Reporting Line: Sr. Technical Advisor-Private Sector & Renewable Energy

Contract Duration: 2 years (Initially), there is possibility of extension
