Responsibilities & Context
JOB PURPOSE
The Senior Specialist, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) will be the technical lead for planning and implementation of disaster preparedness and DRR interventions of UDDOM Project. He/ She will work with the other team members of the project including partners to ensure implementation of the disaster preparedness and DRR interventions in compliance with GoB and USAID BHA requirements. He/ She will be required to monitor the selection process and construction phase of these interventions, and ensure the quality and meet the timeline.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible to collect local information regarding the disaster preparedness and DRR related activities, including the module development and capacity building of local government institutions, community risk assessment and risk reduction action plan, cluster villages, community infrastructure rehabilitation activities, repair and rehabilitation of community-based tube wells, erosion protection through nature-based solution, etc.; analyze the local requirements considering the local environmental and socio-economic requirements; and ensure the implementation accordingly.
- Introduce innovative idea by understanding of the climate risk including the cyclone, flood and heat stress on the interventions and designing related to disaster preparedness and DRR.
- Literature review and research on the disaster preparedness, DRR and climate change adaptation planning and designing and implementation team aware of the updated information.
- Provide support to activity planning towards disaster preparedness, DRR and climate change adaptation as per project proposal.
- Coordinate with the other project team members and ensure the implementation of similar interventions by partner agencies.
- Ensure communication and coordination with local administration and local government institutions, and active participation in local-level planning and execution with government and non-government stakeholders.
- Responsible to all Documentation, Article writing and communication development.
- Prepare monthly, periodic, need-based reports.
SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme’s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
- Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
- Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
