  • Proficient in MS Office (English and Bangla).

  • Good physical condition.
  • Strong teamwork approach.
  • Communication skills in verbal and written Bangla.
  • Knowledge of disability and development issues in Bangladesh.
  • Sensitized to child protection and gender-based violence issues.
  • Experienced in humanitarian contexts, especially in rehabilitation and inclusion.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary context.

Position: Speech and Language Therapist

Line Manager: Project Manager

Type of Contract: Fixed-Term

Duration of the Contract: July -2024 to October-2025.

Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities & Context:

  • Strategy and Steering:
  • Conduct door-to-door visits to support the identification and data collection of persons with disabilities through weekly plans.
  • Ensure data entry and documentation align with project operating procedures, data governance, and international standards.
  • Report on weekly or monthly achievements and issues as requested by the Project Manager.
  • Communicate and link with other mobile team members for internal referrals (PSS, protection, rehabilitation, and Project Officer-Service Linkage) to ensure a comprehensive approach.
  • Coordinate with the Camp Health Sector and health actors.
  • Support the Project Manager in mapping existing health services in the area.
  • Ensure external referrals and follow-up by gathering feedback on services provided for documentation.
  • Closely follow up on individual and familial cases to ensure timely follow-up for all beneficiaries.
  • Refer beneficiaries for specialized services when necessary.
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting as required by donors.
  • Ensure beneficiaries sign necessary documents when items or devices are provided.
  • Work closely with volunteers, ensuring quality service.
  • Perform other tasks as requested by line management.
  • Be caring, compassionate, and maintain good communication with beneficiaries at all times.
  • Demonstrate ethics and professional practice.
  • Respect beneficiaries’ confidentiality.
  • Respect and promote policies, and report any non-compliance to your line manager.
  • Report any incident or act causing harm to the beneficiary or others.
  • Always interact with children in the presence of their parents or caregivers.
  • Always ask for permission before applying any treatment or maneuver to someone.
  • Always respect a refusal of treatment.
  • Show abilities and competencies for efficient speech and language therapy intervention.
  • Operational Implementation:
  • Responsibility 1: Provision of Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Intervention
  • Provide SLT care to critical and high-priority cases following emergency rehabilitation intervention guidelines.
  • Conduct prescreening and prioritization for accurate assessment, planning, and provision of appropriate SLT services to beneficiaries, including ongoing evaluation and reassessment within project constraints.
  • Develop appropriate SLT plans, interventions, and treatments based on beneficiary assessments.
  • Ensure SLT outcomes focus on achieving and maintaining optimal functioning in interaction with the environment, personal, and outcome factors.
  • Familiarize yourself with global physical and functional rehabilitation approaches.
  • Inform beneficiaries and caregivers about the importance of rehabilitation services for improving physical conditions and daily functions.
  • Offer rehabilitation services based on defined objectives between the beneficiary and caregiver.
  • Review recent information on beneficiary evolution before starting a treatment session and adapt treatment accordingly.
  • Ensure beneficiary safety during rehabilitation sessions, considering contraindications and precautions related to various illnesses, problems, and medical treatments.
  • Refer for medical advice if needed (DO NO HARM).
  • Advise and train beneficiaries and caregivers on basic exercises to prevent complications or disabling situations.
  • Provide guidance and support to volunteers in managing cases as needed.
  • A detailed job description will be shared later with shortlisted and selected candidates before the assessment process.

Compensation & Other Benefits

  • Gross salary (monthly): BDT 53,125/-
  • Phone bill allowance (monthly): As per Policy
  • Travel allowance (monthly): Bill on actual
  • Weekly 2 holidays.
