Responsibilities & Context

Litigation and Dispute Resolution: Represent Akij Shipping Line Ltd. in arbitration, court proceedings, and dispute resolution related to contractual breaches, cargo claims, salvage rights, and vessel collisions.

Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate a range of maritime-related agreements, including charter parties, bills of lading, shipbuilding contracts, and repair agreements.

Insurance and Claims Handling: Handle insurance claims related to cargo damage, pollution, collisions, and personal injury. Liaise with insurers and adjusters to expedite claims and mitigate financial risks.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Provide legal insights on risk management strategies, helping the company minimize potential liabilities and exposure to regulatory actions or financial losses.

Environmental and Safety Regulations: Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding ballast water, emissions, and waste disposal. Collaborate with relevant teams to support sustainable practices and manage environmental liabilities.

Advisory Role: Serve as a key advisor on legal and policy matters impacting Akij Shipping Line Ltd. operations, including port regulations, maritime security, labor issues, and customs procedures.

Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with industry regulators, port authorities, insurance companies, and other key maritime industry stakeholders.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with Bangladesh and international maritime regulations, including SOLAS, MARPOL, and the IMO conventions. Advise on legal requirements for vessel operation, cargo handling, and environmental safety.
