Requirements
Education
- Bachelor of Laws (LL. B)/Master of Laws (LL. M) from any reputed institution and enrolment with the Bar Council.
Experience

- At least 3 years
- The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Development Agency, NGO
Additional Requirements
- Age At least 23 years
- Enrolled with the Bangladesh Bar Council as an Advocate, with at least 3 years of practical experience in the respective local courts.
- Strong knowledge of labour, criminal, and family laws.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with diverse colleagues.
- Proficient communication skills, with drafting and report writing capabilities in Bangla and English.
- Knowledgeable in computer operations, particularly in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as email communication.

Responsibilities & Context
Job Context: It is a mid-level position based at the Barishal Unit Office. The Staff Lawyer is responsible for planning and overseeing the day-to-day implementation of Advice to the clients/beneficiaries directly and through telephone or e-mail, ensuring follow-up of settled litigation according to the action plan, ensuring proper procedures are duly followed, and maintaining records and registers as per guidelines. The Staff Lawyer is required to support the conduct of litigation, Panel Lawyer, while the case is being heard, organize/attend meetings, workshops, seminars, and training courses, and provide services & participate in discussions and fact-finding activities organized by other partners` organizations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Interview the clients and record their applications.
- Check and maintain files, registers, and case diaries regarding cases as per guidelines.
- Scrutinize the case paper and analyze the case`s merit per the guidelines.
- Conduct mediation meetings as and when necessary.
- Maintain regular contact with clients/beneficiaries.
- Conduct litigation on behalf of BLAST.
- Appear before the court as required, particularly in family cases.
- Issue letters regarding the cases to the Panel Lawyers.
- Assist the Panel Lawyer during the case hearing, if required.
- Maintain records of engaged Panel Lawyers.
- Prepare monthly/quarterly/half-yearly/yearly legal statements/reports regarding applications received, mediation, litigation, and case studies as per guidelines.
- Day-to-day update of the Case Management System (CMS).
- Conduct/organize/attend meetings, workshops, seminars, and training courses.
- Perform all other duties as and when required by the authority.
