  • Proficient in computer applications will be an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously within a team of colleagues from various cultures and professional backgrounds.

Responsibilities & Context

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The role Team leader is to support Senior Team Leader in supervising field assessments, ensuring timely data collection, monitoring operations, and reporting on progress. It includes advising on population dynamics, needs, and adhering to IOM policies and PSEA principles, and performing other assigned duties.

Project Context and Scope: : IOM’s Needs and Population Monitoring (NPM) unit works closely with the Inter-Sector Coordination Group (ISCG), the Sectors, other IOM units, and various organizations to support evidence-based humanitarian decision-making and prioritization by tracking needs and vulnerabilities through designing and conducting a wide range of assessments among both Rohingya and the host communities in Cox’s Baza, and by providing technical information management and GIS (mapping) support.

The team leader will be under the overall supervision of the NPM Coordinator, NPM Operations Assistant in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh and the direct supervision of the Senior Team Leader, the successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the field assessments and various activities which may developed within the NPM unit.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Category A Consultants – Tasks to be performed under this contract

  • Supervise field assessments to gather timely and accurate data on population mobility, displacement, movement flows, needs, vulnerabilities and other relevant information.
  • Provide regular updates to Senior Team Leaders on the progress of field activities, highlighting key issues and any information relevant to NPM field operations and implementation.
  • Continuously monitor operational activities in the field, propose necessary improvements, and ensure timely implementation of modifications to optimize efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Team Leader and Operations Assistant to track the progress of data collection efforts, ensuring that project deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Monitor and analyze evolving trends, dynamics, and population movements, providing timely advice and updates to IOM to inform decision-making and strategy development.
  • Incumbents are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and adhere to PSEA principles, IOM policies, procedures, and values always ensuring respect towards beneficiaries and KI.
