Responsibilities & Context

• Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) started its journey in 1988 with a noble vision to stand in solidarity with the poor and marginalized. Being a peoples’ centered organization, ESDO envisioned for a society which will be free from inequality and injustice, a society where no child will cry from hunger and no life will be ruined by poverty. Near about three decades of relentless efforts to make this happen, ESDO has embraced new grounds and opened up new horizons to help the disadvantaged and vulnerable people to bring meaningful and lasting changes in their lives. During this long span, ESDO has adapted with the changing situation and provided the most time-bound services especially for the poor and disadvantaged. A community focused and people centered approach has been adapted by ESDO while consideration was given to the national policy and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as its guiding principle. ESDO is one of the most dynamic organizations expanding its development interventions across 331 upazilas under 54 districts of Bangladesh covering over 10 million poor and vulnerable people.

• As partnership with Plan International Bangladesh, ESDO is implementing the Integrated Sponsorship Project (ISP) in Jaldhaka Upazila of Nilphamari district. ESDO is inviting applications from interested qualified candidates for the position.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare a strategic operational plan of approved activities of the Youth Learning Center (YLC) and take initiatives for the smooth operation of the activities in a quality manner.

• Main responsibility is to lead the YLC work as a transformative hub to empower sponsored families by offering comprehensive skills, Green-Tech technical training, employment support, youth-led businesses, community connection, community cleanup campaign for the welfare of the sponsored children, and overall family development.

• The candidate must have good knowledge and skills in green tech e.g. graphic design, freelancing, bamboo, jute craftsmanship outsourcing, photography, video editing, drawing and online marketplace.

• Conduct community consultation with parents and elite and visioning exercises on technical skills (ICT/Green-tech) and increase learners in YLC.

• Organize a Job fair/Youth festival to develop their product for mass awareness and promotion at Upazila/District level.

• Explore thoughts and innovation in all the work of the youth learning centre and roll out among the learners.

• Provide feedback and guidance to the Innovation Lead for better performance and achieve the project output.

• Identify the learners’ choices through an idea-generation and idea-execution workshop conducted with identified learners.

• Preparatory support to learners of YLC to enroll in Technical Training Center

• Progress sharing and review meetings with the Technical Training Center (TTC) quarterly basis.

• Know to understanding of media relations and digital media strategies. She/he must have a deep knowledge of social networking, social media publicity maintenance

• Need to have good knowledge of documentary-making

• Strong communication, interpersonal and networking skills along with strong team-building and capacity-building skills for staff.

• Oversight, maintenance and proper use of all kinds of YLC materials and resources and ensure the inventory register.

• Develop a good relationship; maintain liaison and advocacy with different government line departments, private sector and NGO officials to ensure different services for the learners.

• Support finance and administrative staff to ensure and maintain the proper documentation like attendance register, movement register, logbook, fixed assets, stock register etc.

• Prepare reports for monthly, quarterly and annually in English and submit them to the project manager.

• Coordinating with various stakeholders at the union and Upazila levels such as UP Chairman, Members, Women Affairs Officer, UNO, Social Services and civil society representatives.

• Having an attitude to work under pressure.

• Must comply with the organization and donor’s safeguarding. Child protection and PSHEA policy for children and program participants. He/she must ensure a clear understanding of safeguarding policy to the project staff, key stakeholders and associates, plan risk assessment & mitigation before starting any children and program participant-engaged activities, and ensure reporting & responding of CP & safeguarding incident cases if happen.

• Consider gender equality in organizing every program or activity in the community

• Must have prominent experience in preparing activity/event reports, monthly, quarterly & annual reports, and case stories/success stories and submit project manager promptly.

• She/he will be accountable to the Project Manager.

• Spend 30% of time on field visits and conduct training as per plan for the targeted program participants and share reports on field findings.

• Safeguarding knowledge and applying in all aspects of the programme as necessary and reporting mechanism, assessment and risk management and ensuring in the programme cycle.

• Identify project risk and mitigation plan

• And should have the mindset to perform any additional duties assigned by the organization
