The SHIKHA project under Social Compolinace Programme aims to strengthen prevention and response to all forms of gender based violence (GBV) at the public and workplaces in Bangladesh through legislative change and effective enforcement, strengthening systems and addressing harmful social norms and gender stereotypes. The project will work in Dhaka, Gazipur, Chattogram, Barisal, Narayanganj and Rajshahi districts in 250 workplaces, 270 educational institutions, public places, digital platforms and with the Government of Bangladesh.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize and conduct district-level planning, budgeting, and monitoring to ensure project success.
- Ensures timely and quality implementation of activities as outlined in the activity plan.
- Plans and facilitates orientations, meetings, training, workshops, and refreshers to build capacity.
- Assists in conducting baseline, end-line, and assessment surveys for Gender Based Violence (GBV) protection.
- Collects and updates data for service mapping, ensuring periodic updates for survivors of violence.
- Conducts awareness sessions on GBV and sexual harassment with various target groups.
- Ensures immediate reporting of GBV incidents, coordinating with relevant service providers and maintaining case management support with CSOs and panel lawyers.
- Facilitates the formation of Sexual Harassment Redress Committees (SHRC) at educational institutions.
- Arranges training for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on sexual harassment (physical, verbal, psychological, and cyber) and violence in public spaces, workplaces, and digital platforms.
- Conducts orientation and awareness sessions with factory and school management on GBV and sexual harassment.
- Prepares monthly MIS and necessary reports, ensuring proper documentation is maintained at the project office.
- Coordinates with partner organizations for effective field-level activity implementation.
- Liaises with district and upazila officials (e.g., DC, DLAC, DWO, DEO, UNO) and local leaders for project support and coordination.
Safeguarding Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme’s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
- Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
- Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
