Responsibilities & Context

Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) started its journey in 1988 with a noble vision to stand in solidarity with the poor and marginalized. Being a peoples’ centered organization, ESDO envisioned for a society which will be free from inequality and injustice, a society where no child will cry from hunger and no life will be ruined by poverty. Near about three decades of relentless efforts to make this happen, ESDO has embraced new grounds and opened up new horizons to help the disadvantaged and vulnerable people to bring meaningful and lasting changes in their lives. During this long span, ESDO has adapted with the changing situation and provided the most time-bound services especially for the poor and disadvantaged. A community focused and people centered approach has been adapted by ESDO while consideration was given to the national policy and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as its guiding principle. ESDO is one of the most dynamic organizations expanding its development interventions across 337 upazilas under 53 districts of Bangladesh covering over 12 million poor and vulnerable people.

As partnership with Save the Children in Bangladesh, ESDO is implementing the “Empowering Children through Education (ECE)” project at Madargonj of Jamalpur District and Razarhat of Kurigram District. ESDO is inviting applications from interested qualified candidates for the position.

Responsibilities:

Planning & Implementation:

• Prepare operational plan for the government primary schools (GPS) and execute accordingly.

• Ensure the implementation of education initiatives, including the remedial learning, teachers training program, provision of teachers’ participation in TLC, Teachers support networks, home visit etc. as per project design

• Ensure timely and efficiently implementation of program activities as per plan covering regular school operation, follow-up school activities and provide continuous support to the teachers.

• Organize meetings with Upazila Educational Resource Persons (UEO, AUEO & URC-I) and teachers, SMC, parents and other stakeholders in the project area.

• Organize day observation ceremony and promote local role model of the respective community/school catchment.

• Guide EF to support schoolteacher to enhance learning outcomes in Bangla, English, and Mathematics of class I-V students.

Team Management:

• Guide, supervise & capacitate the Education Facilitators.

• Assess teachers training needs & ensure the training.

Administrative management & Logistics:

• Ensure teachers and children yearly performance assessment.

• Ensure proper use of teaching learning materials in classroom and maintain stock register accordingly.

Supervision and Mentoring:

• Supervise and maintain coordination with Education Facilitators to ensure supportive field

• program management and oversee the work and ensure quality.

• Support to Education Facilitator to school visit, home visit and parents meeting as per guideline

• Conduct day to day quality monitoring of remedial students and identify improvement area and mentor school teacher achieves the learning outcomes of the children.

• Provide coaching and mentoring to Education Facilitator to enhance capacity.

Communication, Coordination & Networking:

• Attend meeting, training organized by organization, stakeholders, or donor.

• Maintain smooth coordination with local-level stakeholders, including teacher, parents, SMC, community, government line department.

• Ensure coordination among Upazila Education Officer, Assistant Upazila Education Officer and Upazila Resource Center Instructor for capacity development of primary school teachers on remedial learning package and enabling teacher for positive class management.

• Facilitated Upazila level Educational Resource Persons (UEO, AUEO & URC-I) to organize and conduct teachers training.

• Establish linkage between the UP-IT resource person with Department of Upazila Youth Development to connect parents to promote digital service (e.g. birth registration, admission, govt. social safety net service, IT training etc.)

Community Engagement:

• Establish and maintain positive relationships with community leaders, parents and other relevant stakeholders to encourage community participation in educational activities.

• Sensitize parents and students on the advantages of education and demerits of early marriage and child labor.

Safeguarding:

• Ensure Practice of child safeguarding policy, PSEA policy, Gender policy, Code of Conduct among team members.

Reporting:

• Prepare periodic report and send to the reporting center.

• Assist Project Coordinator to organize progress sharing meeting with Upazila education steering committee.

• Support in documentation and dissemination of case studies and best practice

• Support the project coordinator in developing quality and timely reports

• Any other task will accomplish assign by the higher management
